Recently, Pilar Barrantes Gamboa, our innovative Digital Product Designer, who is passionate about making a difference online, led a session on "Digital Sustainability". Pilar’s journey into digital sustainability began with a simple question: Why do we focus so much on the sustainability of physical things while often overlooking our digital impact? "Digital communication saves paper and reduces travel, but every online action—whether visiting a website, sending an email, or using social media—emits carbon dioxide," Pilar explains. The Alarming Facts: ❗ The digital world accounts for approximately 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions, surpassing the aviation industry. ❗ Data centers, which store our digital data, require 24/7 electricity, leading to high energy consumption. ❗ Over 2 million cables lie on the ocean floor, connecting these centers and creating a significant carbon footprint—enough to reach the moon and back three times! ❗ Charging a smartphone 299 times emits the same CO2 as driving a car for 4 kilometers. Discover the Innovative E345 Office Building in Kiel | Germany!🏗️ This state-of-the-art office space spans approx. 2,000 m² and features CREE ceilings and columns that are both technically advanced and aesthetically pleasing. A major highlight for this project is the first-ever TCC ceiling with "General Building Authority Approval," showcasing our commitment to innovation and high construction standards. In June, we all celebrated a major milestone with the installation of the final wall elements. The building now appears as if the shell construction is complete. Standing at 11m high, 49m wide, and 13m deep, this office building marks significant progress in our project. Collaboration at its best: CREE in Spain 🤝 A sharing culture becoming a new norm. The construction industry is very competitive and full of communication barriers. CREE has, from its journey in 2010, taken a path of its own- one of transparency and collaboration. In our perfected processes of partner support, Julia Koehler and Clemens Hehle-Koeb recent visit to Spain, created another example of how this culture is embraced in our network regardless of which country we visit. During their trip, the two led execution monitoring at various production sites and engaged deeply with our Spanish and Portuguese partners. This spirit of collaboration was vividly illustrated during their tour of the nearly completed B&B Hotel Tres Cantos, a joint effort between our Portuguese partner Grupo Casais and our Spanish licensing partner ACR, demonstrates the success of our collaborative approach. And since work is not everything in life, Julia and Clemens were warmly welcomed by our Spanish partners to explore the cultural and historical richness of Madrid. These moments of conversation and connection away from the business environment deepened our relationships and highlighted the joy and community that comes with true collaboration.
