- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16315383, a month agoI love this addon WHEN it doesn't correct my British English spellings into American ones. I've read your instruction - there is no English "(no variant)" in settings, and selecting "British English" in "Interpret English as:" doesn't stop the addon from correcting my British spellings. This has to be a bug.

posted a month agoI have just tried with "colour" and it gets accepted when British English is selected. Please contact our support at support -at- languagetoolplus.com with a screenshot of your settings and a screenshot of the text. - Rated 3 out of 5by Siluri, 2 months agoMostly decent, but British English is not listed as a mother tongue or preferred language, so I was constantly get 'corrections' from British English to American.
I CANNOT have English 'no variant' as ONLY option shows US flag for both mother tongue and preferred language. The only place where English British is available is variants which doesn't seem to ever come into play when I was using this as it only ever flagged up British spellings wanting to change them to American.
I'd post screenshots but i cant seem to be able to.Developer response
posted 2 months agoYou can set your mother tongue as "English" (no variant), and then a bit further below in the settings, there's a "Language Variants" settings where you can set British English. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18337524, 2 months ago

- Rated 3 out of 5by Pepper, 3 months agoI downloaded it because it advertised itself as working for multiple languages. While it did appear to work fine for English and French, it unfortunately failed to catch basic Japanese grammar mistakes such as missing particles and misspelled words. Given that I need this most for Japanese (as that is my weakest language at the moment), I have decided to remove it from my browser.

- Rated 3 out of 5by Sebo1020, 4 months agoThe spell check system automatically checks punctuation first and highlights text in yellow ...which automatically blocks/disables spell check itself, how come there is no way to configure the order of these options

posted 5 months agoIt's impossible to check your text without full data access, that's just the way the add-on has to be implemented...- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 18279053, 5 months ago

*New words you add to dictionary are never offered as correction.
*Many times there's no proper correction for simple typing mistake, like changing the order of two letters in a word - the suggestions are weird and irrelevant.
TL;DR - barely more useful than Firefox' (horrible) built-in speller.Developer response

That's only the case if you are not logged in. With an account, your dictionary words will be used for suggestions. - Rated 3 out of 5by Miphee, 7 months agoIt's a very useful tool for spell checking but I'm very sad that it's not available in Hungarian. I know it's a difficult task to include all languages but I still expected all EU countries to be available. Disappointed.
Still, the app works as advertised when I'm using English. - Rated 3 out of 5by Fiance, 8 months agoВ целом хорошо.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Dollique, a year agoIt's okay, but I have a bug where it doesn't check commas and punctuation.
And also on some form fields (like this review) it just doesn't work at all.Developer response
posted a year ago"And also on some form fields (like this review) it just doesn't work at all." -- this is a limitation of Firefox: no add-on is allowed to run on addons.mozilla.org.
We can take a look at the other bug if you post a more detailed description to forum.languagetool.org. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13177490, a year agoUntil recently, it was really great, but since the last update, it's become quite annoying. Every time there's a suggestion for correction, two windows pop up simultaneously, which you always have to close with a mouse click, and that's killing my nervs. If you, like me, use a lot of specialized terminology that the language tool doesn't recognize yet, the entire text is constantly plastered with suggestions. It makes working impossible. Additionally, it now only wants to correct into Dutch, even though German and English are selected. This renders the tool completely unusable.

posted a year agoSorry, we're not aware of such an issue. Could you please post a more detailed bug report to our forum at https://forum.languagetool.org? - Rated 3 out of 5by Glenn Eaton, a year agoMostly works well, but lately it puts two dialogue boxes, one of which does not work.

It's broken on some sites (Atticus), and won't function on others (Novlr, my main writing site). The free version is far too limiting on words but premium is far too expensive to be reasonable, very odd that after years there's no middle ground option.
Disappointingly they've also fallen to the over-hype of AI writing. All AI writing programs are based on the scraping and theft of other peoples work to train their bot. As a writer who's had my work stolen by AI datasets, it's insulting to have AI there with a forefront button demanding to rewrite things for me, and no way to shut it off. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16528173, a year ago

Developer response
