@BryanKrause Is this a question and answer site or an advice site? My question posted here isn't just for me or my situation but for future me when I am on search committees, or other users when they are on committees. Or just in general, how do people assess files in a coherent way.

@Buffy I am being purposefully vague about my situation because my question isn't really about my situation and I am not looking for advice about my exact situation.

@Buffy At this point I am not on a committee, people are just informally asking me. But I figure the answer for either case will be useful to me (and others browsing the site) for the future when I get put on committee.
