About

Retired IT guy. Started my career in 1977. Ended in 2019. Now I play with Pi's all day mostly. Started off as a Fortran IBM 360 assembler and Cobol programmer. Added PLI, several IBM mainframe scripting languages, 8088 assembler, Pascal, sh, perl, C, Objective C, Python, PowerShell, and PHP along the way - with many others.

My first firewall install was in 1990, it was called Draw Bridge and was a bridging packet filter. Next up was Solaris FW1, then Novell Border Manager. After that was Check Point (my favorite). Netscreens, Juniper SRXs of various versions. Like the SRX as it can also be used as an OSPF point-to-point router. Also did lots of neat stuff with Palo Altos. Palo Altos have a Python API which is just over the top! Finished my career with VMWare Micro Segmentation. That was a blast!

Did IPTables for many, many years and recently added ufw because that is what my VPN server wants me to use.
