A reinstall is the process of installing something (such as a piece of software, hardware or a peripheral) again.

A re-installation is the process of installing something (such as a piece of software, hardware or a peripheral) again. Reinstalling something can be an initial troubleshooting step, or a first attempt at resolution when a problem occurs, as it is usually sufficient to make sure that the item in question is installed properly and in a supported configuration.
