Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) is the estimated time between failures of a device and is used to help predict its lifespan.
The MTBF is the average time between failures of a device. It is generally calculated in terms of the sum of time that the device is not functional divided by the number of failures. This figure is often used as part of a calculation to determine the expected lifespan of a device and by extension, the warranty period ascribed to it.
