Recently I started using Manjaro 18.0. Everything is okay except KDevelop and VLC crashes when it starts.

My desktop environment is the newest version of Deepin DE. Previously I have also tried Budgie and Xfce. But I've got the same result.

My VLC version is 3.0.4-6 and the KDevelop version is 5.3.0-1. All the apps have been rolled up to the newest version.

Here is the GDB backtrace for KDevelop:

Are there any solutions or ideas for solving this issue? Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: Looks like these two apps will work with root permission (with sudo). So it might have some issues with the permission and/or environment variables.

  • Did you clear the kdevelop data-repository as requested above? Did you install the latest Qt from its website?

  • @harrymc thanks for your reply. I'm using the Qt 5.11.2 provided by Manjaro official repo, not the one on Qt official site. I have tried removing the data-repository mentioned in the log and it didn't help. Commented Nov 25, 2018 at 7:56

  • Perhaps re-installation will reset everything to better values. Try maybe to uninstall the installed version and reinstall from the Internet.

  • @harrymc problem solved, it's the icon theme's issue Commented Nov 25, 2018 at 12:20

Okay now I've just found a workaround. It looks like somehow the Paprius icon theme I used has some compatibility issues with those two apps. Now I switched to the Deepin DE's default icon theme and both of them works.

I will report this bug to Paprius later.

UPDATE: Paprius said it might be the issue with librsvg. I have also sent a bug report to the GNOME theme.
