As far as internet goes, Having a home in a rural area can be a pain, even if you're not even that 'rural' like me. I live 1400 feet from the closest comcast drop down a dead-end road, and still have an old copper POTS line through Frontier. Frontier has fiber just a few miles up the road as well. Unfortunately due to the lack of clientele or the ability to 'loop' through, the cost to extend service out here is astronomical.

We've been using a local WISP for the past 6 years that is only able to provide 20/20 because of the distance from the tower. I've also experimented with "magenta magic".

I noticed about a month ago, some contractors added some sectors to the recently built (within the last year) cell tower that we have line of sight to.. well last week i received an email that tmo home internet was available at my address, so i promptly signed up to give it a shot.

My biggest complaint is that the residential home internet router is very cut and dry, and has near no administrative settings to modify other than Wi-Fi settings (cannot be completely disabled*) and some other basic things like firmware update and being able to view connection statistics. I chose to hard wire the device to my pfSense router, which requires a double-nat but does not cause any issues for me personally as any ipv4 connectivity is going to be CGNAT'd anyhow. I just dont trust the security alone of a basic device like this.

Anyhow, ill post some screen shots of my results. My speeds have been averaging anywhere between ~200/20 to ~500/60. YMMV!
