World premiere of Marta Pajek’s ‘Impossible Figures and other Stories I,’ the final entry in the director’s acclaimed trilogy, anchors the National Film Board’s impressive set of shorts showing at the event, which runs online September 22 to October 3.

Get a glimpse of what’s in store at the upcoming virtual event set for September 22 – October 3; in addition to a host of screenings, sessions will include a discussion about WIA Vancouver’s ACE Program, an introduction to the Black Write Talent Incubator, and a conversation with storyboard artists José Pou and Bradley Cayford.

The 10^th annual event, running September 23 – October 2, celebrates emerging filmmakers from around the world; animated screenings will be featured throughout the event will an all-animation matinee on September 27.

The 13^th edition returns primarily online, September 10-19, with some in-person workshops; 93 films from 31 countries have been selected for this year’s short film competition.

Presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design, the annual festival, set for October 23-30, will feature film screenings, panel discussions, and workshops.

Sponsored and special festival prizes will be awarded Friday, June 18; YouTube Award and CANAL+ Junior Jury Award top the list.

295 films across animation, live-action, and documentary were selected from over 5,500 entries; in-theatre screenings of 49 curated programs run June 22-28.

At Annecy 2021, first time screenings, masterclasses, and keynotes include a look back with ‘Mémoire d’une minute,’ a shorts collection for Annecy award-winning directors; a masterclass presented by Walt Disney and Kugali animation studios; and a keynote by Terrence Malick about VR ‘Evolver – Prologue.’

With the pandemic still to be reckoned with, event will go virtual again this year, with an extended run set for September 22 – October 3; the best of the usual ‘in person’ activities will be featured and available from the safety and comfort of home; submissions still being accepted through May 31.

In addition to the competition and screenings, the virtual event will explore women and animation, freedom of speech, social criticism, and satire; the conference will run online from May 20-23.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness will also join the event opening; free virtual event runs April 21-25; Luhn is an industry veteran storyteller, writer, and animator whose credits include the ‘Toy Story’ films, ‘Monsters Inc.,’ ‘Finding Nemo,’ and ‘Cars.’
