Zack Snyder’s ‘Twilight of the Gods,’ Aardman’s ‘Wallace & Gromit,’ and Shannon Tindle’s ‘Ultraman: Rising’ lead the streamer’s on-stage presentations showcasing many of its highly anticipated animated films and TV shows coming later this year and next.
Director Simon Otto’s upcoming comedy also lands Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy; the adaptation of Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning writer/director Richard Curtis’s children’s book series comes to Netflix later this year.
This year’s slate, which begins February 2 with the new DreamWorks and Charlie Kaufman comedy, includes spring release dates for ‘The Casagrandes Movie,’ ‘Thelma the Unicorn,’ and ‘Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp;’ dates for ‘Ultraman: Rising,’ ‘The Imaginary,’ ‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie,’ ‘That Christmas,’ and ‘Spellbound’ yet to be announced.
Pair assume the roles of Managing Director and Head of Production, respectively, as the studio prepares to announce new titles and add 300 people worldwide in 2024.
The first projects jointly developed under the new pact will be the animated features ‘Bad Fairies,’ a subversive musical comedy set in contemporary London, and ‘The Lunar Chronicles,’ a sci-fi twist on ‘Grimms’ Fairy Tales.’
Announcements on a whopping nine projects include new films ‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie’ and ‘In Your Dreams,’ plus the ensemble voice cast for summer 2023 release ‘Nimona.’
Bringing 25+ years’ experience in animation and kids’ programming, the industry veteran assumes the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Episodic; the appointment comes as the studio increases its focus on TV and feature animation.
Focusing on production, resource management, training, and operations, she will share leadership responsibilities and title with president Tom Jacomb; she will also join the animation team on June 16 at Annecy 2022 as it presents ‘Pathways to DNEG’ and ‘DNEG Animation: A Proper Hello.’
Ahead of next week’s Annecy 2022 festival, the streamer announces a set of new projects including Sergio Pablos’ ‘Klaus’ follow-up, ‘Ember,’ and the animated musical, ‘Scrooge: A Christmas Carol.’
The former Head of Creative Development at Pixar will join the studio behind the hit animated film ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’ in July.
