‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ and ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ lead the Best Motion Picture – Animated category while also getting nods in ‘Cinematic and Box Office Achievement’ and ‘Best Original Score - Motion Picture;’ winners will be announced at an awards ceremony January 7, live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

Academy members will vote to determine five nominees for best animated feature film award at the 96th Academy Awards; films also qualify for other categories including best picture.

Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach’s film takes top honors alongside Best Short ‘The Miracle’ and Best Student Film ‘Rising Above;’ Industry Excellence Awards also announced.

Wrapping up Infinity Festival Hollywood’s 6^th edition, the awards presentation honored visionaries in the fields of television, film, gaming, fine art and their contributions to storytelling and technology.

Lots of great animation being recognized - ‘Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures,’ ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special,’ and ‘I Am Groot’ among top nominees; the award’s ceremony to be revealed next week.

Out of 2,100 submissions, a selection of 99 films competed; top honors went to ‘Slow Light,’ named Best Animated Short in the professional competition, and ‘Close Your Eyes,’ named Best Student Animation.

In animation, ‘Boom’ takes Gold, with ‘Diplomatie de l’Éclipse,’ and ‘Mum’s Spaghetti, earning Silver and Bronze respectively; winning films now eligible for 2023 Oscars.

Winning animated shorts include ‘A Tree Once Grew Here’ by Johnnie Semerad, ‘Louis I King of The Sheep’ by Markus Wulf, and ‘Hardboiled’ by Peter Sluszka; Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Nelvana co-founder and Canadian animation industry leader Michael Hirsch.
