University Resident Parking
University residents who intend to keep a vehicle on campus must purchase a 'RES' parking permit in their designated area. Resident parking is divided into the following areas: West, South, East, SJ, and Escondido Village. First-year students cannot bring cars to campus for the first year (Autumn, Winter, and Spring Quarters).

Notes:
- 'RES' permits include 'EA,' 'ES,' 'SH,' 'SJ,' 'SO,' and 'WE.' See the Parking and Circulation Map for the locations of these permits. Each permit is valid only in its area.
- Students living on campus with an active housing contract can buy residential parking for their designated house or residence hall but cannot purchase commuter permits.
- 'RES' permits 'EA,' 'ES,' 'SJ,' 'SH,' 'SO,' and 'WE' are valid on the Stanford Redwood City Campus in the Bay parking lot refer to the signage in the lot for valid parking spaces.
- Students can only keep one motorized vehicle on campus during your housing contract's effective dates. If you need parking beyond your housing contract, please contact Stanford Transportation.
- Students in couples or family housing are limited to two long-term permits. If needed, students in family housing may purchase one additional long-term permit for a registered care worker.
- Students opting for the "Lock and Go" program and wanting to leave their vehicle(s) on campus for the summer will be required to leave their vehicle's keys with someone locally, contact Stanford Transportation for more details, and provide their payment information before leaving campus.
- Motorcycles - You can buy a regular Resident permit and park in a full space or get a Motorcycle/Scooter permit which is good only in 'MC' spaces. If you own a motorcycle and a car, you must leave one at home unless you are in couples or family housing.
- Resident Visitor Permits - Resident student lots are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To park in these lots, visitors must have a one-day 'Resident' permit, valid until 11:59 p.m. for the selected date. Residents in Stanford student housing may purchase as many as needed.

- The Parking and Circulation / Campus Map shows where each permit type is valid.
- Please note that during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.), permit holders can only park in spaces designated for their permit type. Parking is free on weekends and after hours in most 'A', 'C,' and visitor spaces unless otherwise posted.
- Long-term residential permits are only valid for a specific residential area. For example, if a student lives in Wilbur, they are only eligible for an 'EA' permit and cannot park in other residential designations. If a student switches residences, please contact us to assist with the exchange
