Payloads (cargo) that are launched for unusual reasons. Use this tag to discuss payloads that are not normal for space-bound vehicles.
This tag is used to discuss non-standard payloads which don't usually fit into the set of normal orbital payloads, such as satellites, spacecraft, and scientific instruments.
Non-standard payloads are unusual as rockets (rockets) are expensive to launch, and are thus reserved for similarly expensive or important payloads. This makes it pretty rare to see things like Elon Musk's Midnight-Cherry Tesla Roadster(roadster) as a payload.
Other non-standard payloads include paper planes sent to the ISS for flights back to Earth, and a wheel of cheese on the first SpaceX cargo flight.
