It’s another year, and that means it’s time for another PyCon US. This event offers an opportunity to bring together a vibrant and diverse community of engineers, data scientists, researchers, students, and enthusiasts who use the Python programming language for work and for fun. It also presents a unique opportunity to highlight entrepreneurs building the future of the Python ecosystem. 2024 marks the thirteenth year that PyCon US has invited early-stage companies to present their ventures on Startup Row. Tools and platforms like Pandas, Plotly, and more—now fixtures of the Python software ecosystem—were built by companies that were featured on Startup Row. And with each new year there’s an opportunity to catch a glimpse of what’s next. Lawrence Convention Center in rooms 308-311 and 315-321 Project Signups : Get your project listed so that attendees can help support it by signing up here Submit Sprint Project : What are Sprints? PyCon Development Sprints are up to four days of intensive learning and development on an open source project(s) of your choice, in a team environment. It's a time to come together with colleagues, old and new, to share what you've learned and apply it to an open source project. It's a time to test, fix bugs, add new features, and improve documentation. And it's a time to network, make friends, and build relationships that go beyond the conference. PyCon US provides the opportunity and infrastructure; you bring your skills, humanity, and brainpower (oh! and don't forget your computer).

PyCon US 2024 will kick off later this week. Our staff members are all busy with the final preparation, and we know that many of you are packing and traveling to the conference too. Looking to make a meaningful contribution to the Python community? Look no further than PyCon US 2024! Whether you're a seasoned Python pro or a newcomer to the community and looking to get involved, there's a volunteer opportunity that's perfect for you. Sign-up for volunteer roles is done directly through the PyCon US website. This way, you can view and manage shifts you sign up for through your personal dashboard! You can read up on the different roles to volunteer for and how to sign up on the PyCon US website . PyCon US is largely organized and run by volunteers. Every year, we ask to fill over 300 onsite volunteer hours to ensure everything runs smoothly at the event. And the best part? You don't need to commit a lot of time to make a difference– some shifts are as short as one hour long! You can sign up for as many or as few shifts as you’d like. Even a couple of hours of your time can go a long way in helping us create an amazing experience for attendees. Keep i

Awarding travel grants to community members to PyCon US and seeing how much they get out of and contribute to the event is one of the most rewarding things we do at the PSF; every year, we wish we could award more. PyCon US 2024 received 852 travel grant requests totaling almost $1.5 million. With estimated revenue of $1.8M and conference costs of $2.1M, we didn’t have the funds to support every applicant. In round one, we offered $360K, or about 24%, of the grant requests received. This is a record number of travel grants received and offered. We know many folks hoped for a grant and were disappointed not to receive one, so we wanted to share more about the process. Travel Grant Funding PyCon US travel grants are funded by various sources, from PyCon US ticket sales and sponsorships, Python Core Devs, the PSF, and generous contributions from PyLadies. In 2024, some funding sources have contracted. To date, we have not received any corporate travel grant sponsorships. Furthermore, the

We’re excited to announce the full schedule for PyCon US 2024! This year, we received a record number of proposals that our Program Committee had to go through: 990 proposals! As a comparison, last year we received a little more than 700 proposals, so it’s almost 40% more proposals compared to the previous year! Thank you to everyone who submitted their proposals.   With these many proposals received, we could easily have enough speakers to fill the program for multiple Python conferences! Our volunteer Program Committee has worked hard to select only 14% among the many strong proposals to create an excellent conference program covering a wide range of subjects for attendees to enjoy.
