Yes, the GMAT or GRE is required for admission to the MBA program, as is TOEFL, PTE or IELTS if applicable. Tests must be taken before the deadline date of the application round in which you apply. Scores from GMAT/GRE and/or TOEFL/PTE/IELTS tests taken after the deadline date will not be considered. Review the Test Scores page for more detail.

If you have taken a test before the application round deadline but do not have your unofficial scores, you will need to enter temporary scores in the required fields in the Test Scores section. If you took the GMAT exam, enter zeroes (“0”) in all required fields. If you took the GRE exam, enter 130 in the required score fields and zeroes (“0”) in all required percentage fields. If you are required to take an English proficiency exam, select the option, “I have just taken an exam…” You should also explain your testing circumstances in the Additional Information section of your MBA application. After the deadline, once you have received your unofficial scores, please log in to your application and click on the “Provide New Information” link to submit them to us.

We accept test scores for the official online versions of the GMAT, GRE, TOEFL, and IELTS. We do not accept the online version of the PTE exam at this time. We recognize that online exams are not offered currently in every region or to every population. We will accept your score until its expiration date: online GMAT and GRE test scores are valid for five years from the date you take the test and online TOEFL and IELTS Indicator scores are valid for two years.

Many universities modified their instructional formats and/or grading systems to accommodate COVID-19 circumstances. We know our applicants are active learners and trust that you made the most of your learning opportunities. If you need to explain your learning situation, use the Additional Information section of your MBA application.

Admitted students will have full support from the MBA Admissions Office and Stanford Bechtel International Center as they navigate the visa process.

No. While we encourage you to learn more about the Stanford MBA Program to get to know us, attending a Stanford MBA Admission event, online or on- or off-campus, does not advantage or disadvantage your chances of admission in any way.
