Cewbot is moving WikiProject banners outside of WPBS[edit]

[1][2] & at least 20 more.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  15:12, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's not recognising {{WikiProject United States}} for some reason. โ€” Qwerfjkltalk 15:26, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Since human editors are prone to doing this too sometimes, it'd be nice to have a tracking cat for banners placed outside the shell.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  15:56, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Tom.Reding, you'd probably have to ask Martin about that. โ€” Qwerfjkltalk 15:58, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree this would be very useful. I'll see what I can do โ€” Martin (MSGJ ยท talk) 17:31, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I found ~420 more after going through Cewbot's last 25k edits as of around the time I originally posted, giving an error rate of ~1.6%. If someone thinks that's worth stopping that task, please do so.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  17:57, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You can stop this bot task with this link. โ€” Qwerfjkltalk 20:57, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I found & fixed ~3k more after going through all transclusions of {{WikiProject United States}}. There might be a few false-negatives out there that I skipped (mostly due to WikiProjects hiding behind html comments), but the vast majority of cases are fixed. Hopefully there is an automated solution to this @ Module talk:WikiProject banner#Tracking category proposed & a tracking cat.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  18:11, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've re-run the program and am checking to see what went wrong. Kanashimi (talk) 21:41, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
{{WikiProject Cooperation}}[3] is/was also affected, and at least 3 WikiProject-adjacent templates: {{WIR-220}}[4], {{WikiProject Black Lives Matter July 2020}}[5], & {{WikiProject Unreferenced Article Cleanup}}[6]. These edits are from 5-6 months ago, in case they've been addressed since then.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  00:45, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the note. These were editing errors made in the early days before these templates were included. It should be fixed now. Kanashimi (talk) 04:33, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects and other non-article classes[edit]

Please omit classes like Redirect, Template, File, etc. when performing the PIQA task (example). These are detected automatically by the banner shell template โ€” Martin (MSGJ ยท talk) 17:27, 8 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It now ignores non-`standard_grades` ratings when running. Kanashimi (talk) 01:23, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Broken target anchor links - Suggestions[edit]

I saw the Broken anchors tag for the first time today at Talk:Addiction. Three suggestions:

1. Tell editors how to fix broken anchor links. I've been a part-time Wikipedian for 15 years. I know how to fix them, but I do not necessarily know how to find them (if there are more than one - see next suggestion).

2. Indicate if the anchor listed is an example, one of several broken anchor links, or the only broken anchor link in the article. This is what appears on the Addiction talk page: [[Addiction# ftn3|[3]]]

3. Emphasize that the broken anchor link appears in the article, not the talk page.

I do appreciate a bot/program that identifies broken links, i.e., my suggestions are in the spirit of continuous improvement, not criticism.

Thanks! โ€“ Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) [he/him] 13:48, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I removed the tag (diff) b/c someone else fixed the broken anchor link. Thanks! โ€“ Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) [he/him] 14:02, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've since changed it to this form: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=1_Corinthians_5:5&redirect=no . Maybe this solves the problem you mentioned above? Kanashimi (talk) 23:27, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove blank, 'na', 'NA' importance parameters where appropriate[edit]

Specifically in category, file, and template space, and possibly others.   ~ Tom.Reding (talk โ‹…dgaf)  17:58, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MSGJ What importance all need to be eliminated? Kanashimi (talk) 08:51, 10 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
