GA reviews (WP:DCWC)

[edit]

Hi Ixtal, c/o ping sawyer777 TechnoSquirrel69. The first issues have arisen regarding this competition and reviews, please see Wikipedia talk:Good article nominations#Questionable reviews and this user talk thread. Given there have been significant recent issues surrounding poor WP:GAN reviews, and GAN can be an individual process, this could exacerbate issues there. It would be very helpful if something could be worked up to emphasis the importance of reviews being of good quality even more explicitly, perhaps on the main points table. The 1000 bytes should probably be a minimum, and I might even suggest explicitly requiring 1) a specific mention of each WP:GACR, and 2) explicit mention of source spotchecks (source spotchecks are now a requirement for all GANs so it would be helpful to make that clear here too) at /Scoring. Happy to bounce ideas around, best, CMD (talk) 12:36, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

i've added a little bit to the GANR section of the scoring page ... sawyer * he/they * talk 19:21, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Chipmunkdavis. It seems the procedural aspects of the GAN reviews have been handled, and I've declined the submissions with some suggestions to the editor for improvement. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 22:17, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Way too crazy (20:34, 5 July 2024)

[edit]

can you introduce me to wikipedia --Way too crazy (talk) 20:34, 5 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be glad to, Way too crazy! Since the wikipedia is all about editing articles and editing content, perhaps a good first step would be to think of topic areas you are interested in? For example, I often edit articles related to my home team, books, and historical eras I'm interested in. — ♠ Ixtal ( T / C ) Sign up for the 2024 DCWC!Non nobis solum 01:11, 7 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ixtal. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Far from the Tree".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 14:37, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Hakonmarcus (08:50, 29 July 2024)

[edit]

Hello! I just joined because I was reading the "Xenophobia"-article and found that someone had put "Warhammer 40,000" in the "See also"-list. I thought that seemed a bit off, so I deleted it, and stated the reason. Is this the right way to make edits, or should I have opened a topic discussing it with others first? --Hakonmarcus (talk) 08:50, 29 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hakonmarcus, that seems like a good edit to me! Thank you for joining Wikipedia. We generally only expect topics to be opened for controversial edits or when there is disagreement on a recent edit. You can read the essay Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle for some more explaining on this. But you did well ^u^. We generally call the type of content you removed (i.e. that which appeals to a small population of fans and is not relevant to a majority of editors reading that article) "fancruft".
PS: To link other wikipedia pages within wikipedia you can use double square brackets. For example [[Warhammer 40,000]] will become Warhammer 40,000. — ♠ Ixtal ( T / C ) Sign up for the 2024 DCWC!Non nobis solum 16:17, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
