100ASA is an online photo-sharing platform based in London, United Kingdom. It was founded by Massimiliano Peluso and Andrea Turri on June 3, 2020. 100ASA is an online platform that provides photographers with a transparent and reputation-based curation process.[1] As of June 2020, the site has around 5000 registered users. The site is currently self-funded, but plans are in motion to seek external investments in Q4 2020.

History

[edit]

Massimiliano Peluso and Andrea Turri co-founded 100ASA in response to the lack of safe and enjoyable online service for photographers to share images online. As professional photographers, Peluso and Turri realized that the market was in need of a 'truly curated photography website in the market' that would provide photographers with a fair, transparent and reputation-based curation process.[2] Building on these challenges, the duo created a platform with a model that allows a community of photographers to curate other photographers.

Technology

[edit]

100ASA used latest technologies to ensure a seamless user experience and is the only photo sharing website providing instant translation for comments users add to photos in their own language. The site makes use of AI-technology to measure the popularity index of a photo. Unlike most other website, 100ASA doesn't use a 'linear' approach to calculate popularity. Instead, it uses a non-disclosed self-learning code that adapts and learns from previous experiences.[3] The site uses 'reputation' to measure the trust of the community in the user. As the site yearns to build a platform curated by a community of photographers, the reputation points are granted based on positive user behavior, such as publishing photos, writing comments and curating other photographers. 100ASA utilizes a unique token technology to avoid the platform from being overrun by low-quality images and malicious users. Users earn the right to showcase their work on the site through the use of a virtual currency. These can be used to perform certain actions on the platform, such as uploading photos or carrying out other curation-related actions.[4]

Content

[edit]

100ASA offers three galleries: Elite, Prime and Upcoming .100ASA reviews photos on the galleries based on a number of different criteria. Photos for the Elite Gallery are hand-picked by the team to ensure top quality, making up to 3% of the total photos on the website.
