SG1 On Hold

[edit]

No where has it been announced that SG1 has been cancelled. The only thing that has been cancelled is the Sci Fi channel's orders for the show. MGM, have expressed great interest to continue the franchise. Until the show has been officially cancelled by MGM (its owners) can this be said.

According to Sci-Fi their contract with MGM forbids them from taking the show to anyone else so unless Sci-Fi has a change of heart the show is effectively canceled officially. -- Toksyuryel talk | contrib avatar 22:39, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't make sense seeing as how the show is syndicated.
On Hold = Canceled for all intents
Sadly, TV is a buyer's market, and not an owner's. Meaning, MGM can wish all they want. Without a buyer to provide the money to keep the show going, they're SOL.
The idea of the franchise being continued is a reality. There will be two direct-to-dvd Stargate movies. (Stargate:_The_Ark_of_Truth Stargate:_Continuum)--Astrodog93 00:16, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
SG1 was never "On Hold" The IP still exists, and D2DVD Movies have been made. Also, the IP lives on in SGU. SG1 will never die, but this game did.HinataSoul (talk) 04:59, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No Unas

[edit]

I'm not very good with editing Wiki, but in a QA, Worlds developers said that Unas would most likely NOT be in the game. http://www.stargateworlds.com/warehouse/download/381_original.mp3

inclusion of the pegasus galaxy

[edit]

"The game will revolve at release around the Milky Way Galaxy, in the fictional storyline of the ongoing conflict between the Tau'ri and Goa'uld. Playable races as shown at this time will include Humans, Goa'uld, Jaffa, and Asgard. The major conflict in the game will between good and evil, the antagonists being the Ori and Goa'uld. Expansions to the game may include the fictional Pegasus Galaxy, suggested by the game's inclusion of the Ori.": the ori have nothing to do with the pegasus galaxy so unless im not getting what you mean i have no idea what your talking about!

Fate of Asgard Race

[edit]

As of the last episode of the Stargate SG-1 Storyline, Unending, the Asgard have been shown to have committed universal suicide. As such it is highly unlikely that there will be an Asgard race in the game if it hopes to be place after the end of the show. Furthermore, the Pegasus Galaxy will involve the Wraith not the Ori. Ori galaxy has not been properly named, but speculation has drawn a comparison to the M31 Galaxy. Hope someone will clarify on the fate of the Asgard for the game. 208.17.32.27 20:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)—Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.17.32.27 (talk) 20:37, August 24, 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It could be assumed that the game takes place before the series finale, or that it takes a different dimension where the Asgard are still active. Joiz A. Shmo 21:55, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Does it seem likely that they would abandon continuity if they need to get as many users as possible? Especially with the release of Direct-to-DVD movies continuing the SG-1 Story, and absence of Asgard from Atlantis would lend itself to maintaining continuity? After all, we Stargate fans are a rabid bunch. :-) Jeeves5454 13:05, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It been confirmed that the game is intended to take place between Seasons 3 and 9.-Baldr aka GWatson • TALK 10:02, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
New information puts the game starting BETWEEN Seasons 8 and 9. -Baldr aka GWatson • TALK 21:22, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tollana

[edit]

This page points out that the game's website has concept art of non-destroyed Tollana. I was thinking of adding it as a clue to when the game will be set, but I guess they might have been studying the undestroyed version to base the destroyed version on it, or something. --DocumentN 23:26, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Stargate usage

[edit]

Won't the stargate alway be in use or is it that the stargate can be used by oone user and to another user the stargate is not in-use --Jay (talk) 22:12, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Information on how the Stargate works exactly has not been released by the developers yet. -Baldr aka GWatson • TALK 18:35, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any new info? --JayTur1 (Contribs) 21:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I heard or read somewhere that they plan on having the way the stargates operate differ from the differnt types of planets. For example: if the planet that you are on is a "home-base planent" that has a lot of traffic, they said something like the gate would just always be on and you would just choose where you wanna go and step through it without having to wait for it to shut down (as this could, obviously, prove to cause SERRIOUS problems for players). On much lesser planets, however, they said that the gate operation could possibly be reverted to the usual operation of a stargate where you have to wait for it to be out of use and dial it up manually. Now, I cannot actually source this, so don't quote me on it, but I'm pretty sure it's on the Stargate Worlds website somewhere... I'll see if I can find it again. New Changes

[edit]

I like the new changes and nicely cited, however, its missing information on the Op-Core (and the prison), and the information on the Factions(SGU and ???, the other faction has been publicly named yet). I know in the Developer Q&A podcasts on stargateworlds.com has all of that, I'll try to add it in if I have the time. Baldr aka GWatsonTALK 20:23, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GNU/Linux support

[edit]

Does anyone know if this game will run in Linux systems? I ask because it uses the Unreal Engine, which is closs-platform... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.39.127.183 (talk) 17:11, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, what OSs will it be on? Mac, Windows XP, Linux, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360? --JayTur1 (Contribs) 21:21, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's been said by devs and in the forum FAQ thats its only being developed for Windows XP and Vista. -Baldr aka GWatson • TALK 21:19, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Windows 7 is released in under 2 weeks. I'd be surprised if the game doesn't run on that too. I must admit I bought Vista a year or two back for my desktop and it came pre-installed on my laptop and I rarely ever use it unless I'm playing a Windows game that doesn't run well in a virtual environment so would appreciate the developers porting the game to Linux, especially if it uses an engine that's already cross-platform.--Chris (talk) 18:36, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I'm Penguin, lead content editor on the Stargate Worlds wiki. I'm currently working on updating and improving the content on this page. In the meantime if anyone has any questions head on over to the wiki or check out the community forums. Bobpenguin (talk) 05:51, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tone

[edit]

The tone seems a little too playful and casual, so I tagged this article. Examples- "Jaffa in the game are like Jaffa in the show: big and tough.", "When exploring new worlds this class is definitely handy to have on hand if when dealing with advanced alien technology.", and "The Asgard will be a faction specific class, so no evil Asgard." Ace ofspade (talk) 22:09, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Duly noted on this, I'll be helping out the ones at SGWWiki to help get this article cleaned up over time. --bc (talk) 14:32, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Training

[edit]

Does anyone know if it will be like America's army, where you do basic training or will it be a learn as you go? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joseph.spiewak (talkcontribs) 15:09, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling mistakes

[edit]

The box thing on the left has spelt Mountain wrong. It currently lists "Cheyenne Moutain Entertainment" as the developer.

This seems to have been fixed after my minor edit to that box. --bc (talk) 16:59, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

races?

[edit]

isnt human a race? it is not listed under races only three other races are listed. also will there be blacks in this game? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.215.21 (talkcontribs)

Humans aren't listed because you don't choose your race, per say. Rather you choose your archetype, which determines your race. Joiz A. Shmo 19:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Controversila yet factually accurate information

[edit]

I've noticed that controversial information surrounding CME and Stargate Worlds is being periodically removed from the article. Information posted has given references and confirmation and demonstrates no bias and yet it is being removed. I feel this information should be included on the page as it gives an accurate history of the product, free from propaganda. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infalible (talkcontribs) 14:47, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The issue stems from the inability to find reliable sources. It's not censorship to remove rumors and speculation, it's Wiki policy. spazure (contribs) (review)
I'm removing the assertion that information was "recently released" about the game being canonical. Apparently this release of information was done in this Wikipedia article. Searching for information about Stargate Worlds being canonical leads only to web sites that mirror information on this page. That means that it's a rumor that started here. I'm removing it, and that information should not be reinserted unless accompanied by a reliable source. -- Atamachat 16:10, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe this is just my opinion, but when new media is added to any series, shouldn't we be under the assumption that it's canonical unless the creators suggest otherwise? Byakuya Truelight (talk) 19:47, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, why not? The reader can feel free to assume that. This just reinforces why the information should be removed; shouldn't we be assuming its canonical anyway? Why does it even need to be pointed out? Regardless, what was said before was that the developers made some kind of announcement about things being canonical, when that wasn't the case at all. One would hope that a game based on the Stargate stories would be faithful to them. -- Atamachat 15:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's exactly my point. I agree completely. Byakuya Truelight (talk) 12:55, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jaffa head armor question

[edit]

Will the Jaffa troops have the animal heads/cyber helmets avaliable to them? Like Heru'er & Ra's Hawk guards, Ra's Anubis guard, and Apophis' Snake guards?156.34.176.220 (talk) 19:55, 28 July 2009 (UTC)(Tetra Vega)[reply]

Not the first stargate game

[edit]

I've removed the sentence "It is the first video game installment in the Stargate universe series." from the article's intro. While it's true that this is the first game based on the TV series, there was a side-scrolling platformer based on the original film which was released for the megadrive. I can't find any sites with reviews/info but amazon.co.uk has it listed here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acclaim-3455190010235-Stargate-Mega-Drive/dp/B00004TMDB and google returns a bunch of other places selling it with the search "stargate megadrive" --88.108.55.173 (talk) 14:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There was also an SNES Game released based on the original Stargate movie. Andy5421 (talk) 23:28, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

[edit]

Over the past few days, the release date has flipped around faster than backflipping grasshoppers. There is NO official release date for SGW, the release date currently on the page is for Stargate: Resistance. Don't believe me? http://www.gateworld.net/news/2009/12/cme-answers-stargate-resistance-questions/ Read it. Now, let's leave the release date at TBA, yes? --MattTheRat42 (talk) 15:30, 22 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tell that to the retarded Wyatt Riot who believes he's some sort of Wikipedia super moderator lol.190.134.158.217 (talk) 03:12, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like I inadvertently contributed to that while reverting/removing a whole mess of other things. As far as the above comments go, I am not nor have I ever claimed to be an administrator/moderator. I'm just another Wikipedian editing according to the project's policies and guidelines. Cheyenne bankruptcy

[edit]

"Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, the folks behind the oft-troubled Stargate Worlds, as well as the recently released shooter Stargate Resistance, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. This information has been confirmed through the Clerk of Superior Court's Office of Maricopa County, Arizona. The case was filed on February 12th." Game over man, game over. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.230.150.9 (talk) 10:43, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. That information has been added to the article. CME has also stated that development will continue, if you read the reference [1]. [SCΛRECROW]CrossCom 2.0 11:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion

[edit]

I must say that the page is quite confusing. It still acts as if the game will be released, yet it says that that production has ceased. Will it be released or not? --75.181.67.130 (talk) 16:38, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

at this point it is not clear Vilnisr T | C 11:30, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
as of January 16, 2011, CME no longer exists. The company is in legal trouble and cannot spend any more money until they make up for their losses, unless someone buys SGW IP, which due to a complicated relationship with MGM, is also unlikely to ever happen. Sparing an act of god, SGW cannot be revived. It saddens me, but this wiki page is simply a dent in video gaming history, and might get deleted soon due to irrelevance. HinataSoul (talk) 04:56, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It should not be deleted it is still gaming history and has its place in WIki —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.0.163.10 (talk) 16:40, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs to be cleaned up and changed to reflect 'was' as well as a proper time line. Within the same section it states that both it is in development, and no longer in development. It should reflect that the game 'was' in development up to a certain point, and then additionally after this, mention that as of, so and so, the game was canceled (put on hold, indefinately) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.190.205.237 (talk) 08:10, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WarGames: The Dead Code

[edit]

I was wondering if it should be noted that there may have been a connection to the film WarGames 2 and this game, MGM obviously felt enough so to have the guy play about 5 seconds of the game at the beginning of the film. Govvy (talk) 19:05, 27 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
