Barre in Second After Four Events of Heptathlon at NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) – Graduate student Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's outdoor track and field team competed at the first day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday. The championships are being held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Barre's Performance:

  • Following the first day of the heptathlon, in which four events took place, Barre is in second place with 3,230 points, trailing the defending champion Grace Alley from Loras by 26 points.
  • Barre started the day placing third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.44 seconds. She then placed second in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.66 meters.
  • Barre finished sixth in the shot put with an outdoor personal-best throw of 11.10 meters.
  • Thursday's heptathlon events closed with the 200-meter run where Barre turned in a career-best time of 24.80 and placed second.

Up Next:

  • The championships continue Friday, May 24 with Barre starting off in the long jump of the heptathlon at 1:30 p.m. as well as competing in the high jump which also starts at 1:30 p.m.
