Great picture quality and outstanding price
I was in the market for a bigger TV. My previous TV, Samsung, still worked but the lack of Dolby Atmos via eARC and Dolby Vision natively bothered me. I was contemplating getting the C3 OLED but my room is too bright, the price was too high and I couldn’t deal babying a TV (I was a Plasma owner back in the days and dealt with screen burn-in).The TCL is an outstanding performer. I like its operating system and navigation screens. The picture quality is stellar and the contrast level is almost OLED. The price is what most TVs should be. Other manufacturers have an enormous markup in their pricing. Just think how much they can drop their prices and make money on the sale.I’ve attached a picture of the TCL in the bottom and the Samsung in the top. Notice how life like is the picture in the TCL and the inky blacks are mind blowing.Highly recommend and also suggest getting the Assurion insurance just to be safe for 5 years.

So far I am very happy with the TV. I bought it mainly for gaming.

2016 is when I got serious into premium TV just to have a good picture quality for games. my first TV back then was the samsung KS8000. I was really surprised with the picture quality but down the road I noticed a flaw: game mode downgrade the picture quality.

the input lag out of game mode in the ks8000 isnt good so eventually I put my eyes on the lg oled c8. excellent picture quality in game mode. barely any input lag but then another thing started to bother me. the high peak brightness wasnt high enough. the ks8000 has awesome peak brightness so I was used to it. I loved the perfect black and contrast on the oled c8 but I felt it needed that peak brightness to make it perfect. Eventually my household were living on one income so Istopped looking at TV until last year.

Then I discovered the Samsung s95b and discovered that it has all the benefits pack in one, high peak brightness, excellent contrast and perfect blacks but I couldnt afford it until recently I discovered the TCL QM8. Started reading reviews and heard about the high peak brightness and that the blacks levels were very close to Oled and excellent contrast for just $1000. I couldnt believe it and was very skeptical. kept reading reviews, noticed that amazon has a monthly payment plan with no interest and decide it to give it a go and...

it is the gamers dream comes true for just $1000 instead of paying $1,700 for the samsung s90C. As soon as I installed it, started playing Alan Wake 2 which is a dark game and was really surprised at the black levels. I swear the black levels looks like my lg oled c8 but now with high peak brightness (higher than ks8000) and the best of all, very low input lag!.

granted I havent seen the samsung s90c in person but I can say my TCL qm8 has shown almost a match or improvement in every category I care about. Higher peak brightness than the ks8000 and the lg oled c8, and the black levels and contrast are very close to my oled for just $1000.

After gaming for years on my oled c8, I started craving for that peak brightness so went back to my ks8000 and was playing through that horrible input lag. not anymore!

    Excellent value for the price.

I hesitate a lot when reading the current reviews but by far this TV has everything I needed and expected.

Quite bright, love the image quality and Frame Rate is awesome! It is 120hz native but goes up to 240hz which looks way better than a LG that I have in other bedroom. Audio is good too! Speakers perform good in my living room which ceiling is around 12feet.
Love the OS (AndroidTV), it is so fast and responsive in comparison with other brands (my experience and comparison is with LG and Samsung). Of course you can link with your other devices or mobile to make the setup easier and personalized (have multiple profiles from family)

For gaming is great! I have a PS5 hook to it an so nice! It switches to a Gaming profiles where you can even put a fix target in the screen for FPS (lol)

Consider this one is heavy, I’ll give that and also, remote control has light that will dim or turn on automatically, great when watching a movie and want to pause or whatever in a dark environment.

I like that the TV turns on fairly quickly and has a snappy menu and interface. I hated how some of my old TVs took over 10 seconds from the time you turned it on to the time you could actually watch anything. The speakers are not great but not many tvs have good speakers. I really like the backlight function of the remote. It has an accelerometer built in so it lights up when you pick it up. You don't need to push a button to activate the backlight. ALL of the buttons are backlit also which is very nice. The TV has great contrast due to the Mini LED arrayed backlight and the blooming is pretty minimal. When the screen is black in a dark room, there is none of that persistent grey look as is typical from an LCD TV. On the downside, there are so many picture features that are difficult to understand what they all do. Also the upscaling is not as good as other brands such as SONY.

All in all, it is a fantastic TV that performs like an upper tier tv but priced at a more budget friendly level.

    1. Amazon dropped the TV off in freezing temperature "near" the front door, propping it up at an angle and damaging the box. They never bothered to ring the doorbell and I wasn't notified on my phone either as requested. Box was dented and damaged but fortunately TV was not
    2. This set does not play well with my Roku streambar. Numerous reboots because of mismatches in the frame rate. Finally found a fix for that online - since the pamphlet TCL provides as a "manual" is useless - and buried in the settings, I was able to make a change that prevents it from happening every time I change programs (although it still happens occasionally)
3.Sound is disappointing; it was supposed to be a feature but it's mediocre at best; certainly not as good as the U8 High Sense we have at our cabin
    4. Picture is good, but not nearly as good as the U8 High Sense
    5. Android interface is confusing and slower than the U8 High Sense

I debated going with the U8 High Sense because I was so happy with the one we have, but all the reviews kept saying the TCL edged it out. It doesn't, they're wrong. I would have returned the set but it was such a pain dealing with Amazon in the first place just to get the TV, I didn't want to work through an even bigger problem of boxing up and returning a 65" TV. But it wouldn't surprise me to have to do that anyway because lately it's been flaking out on switching between the TV audio and the soundbar when I go into broadcast TV mode.

I compare this to the flawless picture, audio, and interface of the HighSense U8 line and realize TCL is an inferior product for the same money. Don't make the same mistake I did .... and make sure you're home if you order expensive electronics from Amazon
