I replaced a 20+ year old Sleep Number mattress with this mattress. I've had it over a week now and love it. The mattress is medium firm, which I like. The top layer of gel-infused foam provides a bit of sink in comfort, but not to the extent that it's hard to move or change positions. Mine expanded to a full 12" within 2-3 hours of putting it on my bed (I kept the Sleep Number foundation on the bed under this mattress). I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain at all. My old Sleep Number mattress was giving me both. To give you an idea of the give in the top layer, I have attached a couple of pics of my dogs on the mattress. I will say, they LOVE the new mattress and I have a hard time getting my Pittie (Black & White pup) to get off of it. The Rottie/Shepherd weighs about 92 pounds and you can see, the mattress has a good amount of cushioning for joints and pressure points. It's been a GREAT buy!
I will check back in 3 months and a year so I can say how the mattress holds up over time. Can't beat the price on this and I will be buying another one for my son soon.
A month and a half later - STILL loving this mattress. It is still very comfortable. I sleep great. I don't think it sleeps hot. I don't wake up with back or shoulder pain. I bought a second one on Prime Day for my son. I don't think you can go wrong with this mattress.
Four months later - this mattress is still great! My Pittie races me up the stairs to the bedroom and jumps in the bed first. When I'm at work, she sleeps on the bed. I love it. It's firm, yet comfy. I'm never hot and my room is the hottest room in the house during summer. I've recommended this mattress to all my friends and family. This has been an excellent value.
14 months later - This mattress has held up well over time. It’s still firm yet with enough cushion to be very comfortable. It has continued to be an excellent value for the money paid. No backaches or shoulder pain after sleeping on it. Both my son’s and my mattress are in excellent condition. I continue to recommend this mattress.

I've read some negative reviews about people who've removed the cover that comes on the mattress to wash it or for whatever reason and then went nuts complaining about loose fiberglass fragments they encountered afterward. I believe the tiny amount of fiberglass material built into the cover is part of the fire-retardant material that makes up the cover. I also believe the warning the manufacturer gives about not removing the cover is their way of being over-cautious about the possibility of customers coming into contact with fiberglass fibers if they do so, and anyone who has removed the cover has NO ONE TO BLAME BUT THEMSELVES for any problems they encounter for failing to follow the manufacturers instructions. I haven't removed the cover on mine but I did open the zipper about 12" so that I could stick my bare forearm inside and rub it around to see for myself if there really was loose fiberglass fiber but I didn't notice any indication of this at all. My recommendation if you ever feel the need to remove the cover to wash it or whatever is remove the cover, deflate the air out of it and then CLOSE the zipper (without turning it inside out) and then arrange it around the center post of your washing machine. This will ensure the inside and outside of the cover won't come into contact with each other. Wash on a delicate setting, no bleach, then after removing it from the washing machine don't put it in the dryer, just lay it out on the floor to dry before putting it back on.
The first picture was taken just 5 minutes after removing the mattress from the box and it's a full 7". 36 hours later it had expanded to the full 8" as can be seen in the second picture. After about 36 hours it was fully expanded and was very smooth and flat with square edges, and it looks almost perfect in every way. I have no idea how long this mattress might last, but after paying only $200 plus $18 in sales tax with free shipping it's easy and cheap enough to replace. I'm still using my old bottom box frame but since the distance between the support slats is a full 6" on my old base, I show in the third picture how I installed (with a few screws) some pieces of 1/4" plywood to the top of it for better support for the foam mattress. I simply bought and installed 3 pieces of 1/4" plywood at 24" x 48". I needed to cut the width of one piece for the foot end of the bed down 4" so that the plywood would break over the supports slat of the old box base. If you choose to follow my example you may need to modify this to some extent depending on the spacing of the support slats of your base.

Folks, I am here to tell you that they are in fact... 100 % correct!
No shill BS here. I bought my bed with my own money and apart from this review now, Zinus doesn't know I exist.
This bed is honestly life changing. I have some big mental health issues I'm dealing with and the part of my day that I know I will truly have relief is knowing that I have this stupendous bed to recharge in. From a quick cat nap when I'm feeling low during the day to a SOLID 7 hours sleep at night... this bed is like a human-charger. I'm actually finding myself getting emotional because for so so soooo many years I've had a terrible night sleep. With my medical issues I have a lot of chronic pain, anxiety, depression and only getting a couple hours straight sleep at a time does NOT do anything to help those issues. This bed changed all that and I'm so grateful to have taken the plunge and purchased the bed.
I see so many reviews of people pouring on and on about the best sleep but it's true. For me at least, I came from a traditional pocket spring pillow top and box spring. I saw some reviewers say there's an adjustment period when you come from a traditional bed to foam. I didn't have that at all. Sure it felt strange with how little motion was transferred and how silent it was when rolling over, but there was no negative "oh jeez... this is going to take some getting used to" like I expected. I just layed down, and within minutes I was out like a light and stayed asleep all night. No mid-night awake for a bit and then hopefully right back to sleep. Just solid 7 hours in one shot.
After 15 years my old bed had seen it's best days and perhaps it was a part of why the sleep wasn't good but looking back, I don't think that I ever did get a great nights rest on it. It was plush and was decent compared to a non pillow top but this foam... omg...
Ok I promised I wasn't going to "wall of text" and just repeat what others have said but even after 2 nights sleeps on it, I know this is going to be a life long change in my life to always sleep on a bed like Zinus has here. Just buy it. It's an amazing price (at least time of writing this review) and it arrives fast. There was no adjustment period and honestly no negative. My whole bed with platform frame, headboard and under-bed storage costed less than a middle of the road traditional matress alone. I will never go back to one. I'm now a convert.
Enjoy your night!
Thanks again Zinus for making this bed. Truly astounding quality and value. (ok now I sound like a commercial... I'll stop)
Cheers!

I rolled the dice on this model of mattress because, at the time of purchase, it was a little over $300 Canadian. At time of purchase, this is about the price of a bargain spring mattress. I had serious doubt that this would support me, but was worth the risk.
The result was beyond my wildest expectations. The mattress provides amazing support, both for myself and my wife. I haven't slept this well in 20 years.
Now, I have no way of knowing how long this mattress will last in this condition. Continued use will no doubt reduce the firmness and support of the foam. Just as spring mattresses eventually reach end of life, so too must this foam mattress. That said, I don't honestly think lifespan should be a serious consideration. The quality of the item is such that I am confident of getting at least a few years out of it, even at my size.
More to the point, perhaps, the quality of the sleep is such that, at $300 Canadian for the mattress, I would glad buy a new one every year just to be able to sleep that well each night. The ability to wake up refreshed like this every morning will pay for itself a thousand fold. I've gotten more done in the first morning after my first night's sleep on this thing than I accomplished in most of the week prior. Coming from a broken down spring mattress that had me tossing and turning all night, the difference in quality of sleep really is that stark.

So after 24 hours in a fairly warm room with a fan going and the window open (I recommend letting it expand in a warm room with great air circulation as heat causes the mattress to expand much quicker), I decided to sleep on it. I didn't sleep too well, but that's because it was still off-gassing a bit and I had a muscle strain in my good shoulder from my previous bed that was still healing, and my bad shoulder was as usual, acting up.
After the second night sleeping on it though, my shoulder pain has diminished greatly in both shoulders and my CHRONIC back pain (from having an injured back) has almost completely dissipated, and as a fibromyalgia sufferer I can say with certainty this bed is helping that as well (I am able to get up in the mornings). I am a bigger woman and fairly tall and this bed provides ample support and comfort despite my size (and there's also plenty of room for my fit hubby when he's not away working). It's also much cooler and dissipates heat much better than my $3000 Stearns and Foster mattress I had prior to this one. It's honestly unbelievable that a mattress that cost me around $500 with taxes and came in a box is better than a $3000 brand name mattress.
A few expected (as stated in the paper that comes with the bed) cons: The off-gassing is quite intense for the first 2-3 days, after that the smell slowly goes away, but you MUST have good air circulation and preferably a fan going and window open. I had a fan going, the window wide open, AND ran my air purifier in the room for 3 days (and still run it at night). As I have a lovebird, I took precautions and actually sent my lovebird to stay with a family member for at least 10 days to be 100% the off gassing smell is gone and the mattress is no longer expelling ANY sort of scent (just because I can't smell it anymore, doesn't mean it won't affect a respiratory-sensitive bird). My dog and cat however aren't bothered at all by the smell, but again... Keep the room ventilated for at least the first 7-10 days or longer just for the well-being of your pets and yourself. And if you are sensitive to smells/chemicals, maybe this bed isn't for you... Unless you have a week or more to allow this bed to fully air out before sleeping on it.
Lastly, if you do NOT have a warm, well-ventilated room and do NOT follow the directions, you're gonna end up like the folks leaving one-star reviews on this bed - The bed expands best this way and the smell goes away faster with proper air circulation.

I read a lot of reviews and was really hesitant before buying this mattress. First of all there was no smell at all when unpacking this. It inflated in a few minutes but we didn't use it for the first 2 nights. It did firm up during that waiting time and I suggest to everybody to wait like we did.
First impression was that it feels a bit weird when you lie down on it for the first time. It feels hard at first and then you slowly sink into the top gel layer. It then conforms to your body and you will sink around 2 inch deep. If you move, the imprint of your body will stay there for like 15s and then totally disappears. This also feels weird at first.
Once you get used to it is actually quite supportive and comfortable. The very first night, both me and my gf slept super well and have been sleeping well for the 2 weeks we've had it so far. It doesn't feel particularly hot as most people suggest memory foam normally does. I slept on my back, my side and my stomach and all 3 positions felt fine. Note that I do have an easier time sleeping on my back than I used to with this mattress.
For the price, if this mattress lasts me around 5 years, I will be quite happy.
