This watch was ok at first and I have only had it for a month. Up until last week, it was doing ok. The past two days it was saying I was doing 49 miles in 30 minutes at a .43 pace. No one can run that pace and I just started running so I know I'm not that fast. I was going to return it today but the cut off date was 5-4-24. I would not recommend buying this watch.

I have been looking for a low profile fitness tracker similar to my old vivosmart 3 for several months. This is it. The added features of the "5", make it even better. Yes, it does everything the description says and the BR tracker is accurate ( I have watched too many videos talking about which tracker is the best, one shows 2 beats hi or vs another, etc. the reality is that any band, ring, chest band is going to have variances to actual). The fit and feel is most important to me in how often/long you will wear a tracker and this is perfect. Garmin APP is awesome, connection is easy and finally I appreciate the ease and acceptance of Amazon's return process. If it weren't for that I probably would have shopped elsewhere. Seriously, out of the three I bought (returned two), this was the most expensive. Amazon would not have gotten this sale, or as many continued purchases from me if it weren't for that.

I decided to purchase the Vivosmart 5 when my aging Vivosport started reporting wildly inaccurate heart rates. I immediately saw a host of improvements with the Vivosmart 5, beginning with a greater range of activity types to choose from. Finally, I don't have to record my daily Yoga as "other" and then reclassify it in Garmin Connect. And the moving graphics for activities make it very easy to find the activity that I want to record. Some reviewers have indicated that the font on the tracker is so small that it is unreadable. I disagree. Even without my glasses, which I always need for reading, I can make out the words displayed on the tracker.

One reason I have hesitated in moving from the Vivosport line to the Vivosmart line is that the former has built-in GPS and the latter does not. But I figured that, except for swimming, I always have my phone with me anyway, so tracking distance should be no big deal. However, I was surprised to find that the Vivosmart, paired with my phone, consistently reported a walk that I know to be exactly a mile (from online mapping sites) as 1.1 miles. That is 10% too high. My former Vivosport always reported the distance correctly, between 1 and 1.02 miles.

Aside from the GPS issue, I have been pleased with the tracker's features. I like the way it produces an overall sleep quality score and breaks it down into the components of good sleep. My subjective experience of sleep quality does not always correspond exactly to the Garmin score, but it does more often than not.

I like the way the tracker nudges me to move and stretch every so often, and I find that I do not have to move around vigorously for a long time (like I did with the Vivosport) in order to convince my tracker that I indeed took a break to move.

Sometimes I am surprised by the initiative taken by the tracker. the other day it asked me if I wanted to do some breathing exercises. Perhaps it thought I was too stressed; I don't know. At any rate, I said sure, and took a break to breathe.

I have been using the Vivosmart for a month now, and I can think of a couple of ways that the tracker software could be tweaked a bit more to make it better, but, all-in-all, I have been pretty happy with this tracker.

I think the tracker is accurate enough, but I can say that it is very consistent. As a Physician I realize this is not a diagnostic quality instrument, but it does not need to be. It just needs to be consistent. I use it to trend my lifestyle by comparing today to yesterday, and last week, and 30 days ago. Charge lasts several days. Overall extremely pleased with this purchase.

I have been choosing Garmin trackers and recommending them for years. I am so disappointed that this didn't live up to my expectations. Evidently I didn't get the one with the advertised long-lasting battery. My experience is that it needs to be charged frequently and it is inaccurate, and not by a little bit, with hours of sleep, distance walked, etc. This affects the other stats that are tracked so I've asked myself more than once, why I am wearing it??? It shouldn't be this way for the price point. Too late to return or I would

Got a Fenix 5x that I've used daily for years, but was getting tired of such a large item on my wrist. So i got this one. Liked it enough that I got another one for wife. Basic, easy to use for tracking things, comfortable enough to wear while sleeping. Battery length leaves something to be desired; maybe 4-5 days with pulse Ox on for sleep time only. Not a big deal, really. Take the time to calibrate steps, at least. And also invest in a screen protector. Being polycarbonate it'll scratch up sooner or later. Might as well take care of it. Happy with the purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, as dependable as the vivosmart 4

I replaced my vivosmart with a newer version as I lost the previous one on vacation. Garmin products have always been dependable products for the use I make of them. Both the watch and its app are easy to use and understand. The watch and it's band are sturdy but not that fashionable.

Unlike its predecessor, the vivosmart 5 has an actual button, which I appreciate - no mistapping possible. Battery life is also good. After 4 days, I'm at around 50% (started wearing it when it was at around 96%). I do not use the blood oxygen function, as it drains a lot of energy.

The sleep tracking function is ok. It tracks your sleep and sleep phases, but not always? It's odd: I get a message it didn't get tracked, but later in the day, the data becomes available.

Regardless, it is a dependable product.

The Garmin Vivosmart 5 has great reviews and I thought it was awesome until the battery died. The 'manual' that comes with the unit is near useless, doesn't even say how to charge the thing. The saving grace is that the support folks are pretty good. You really need to download the full manual. I'm quite impressed with the volume of data you get about exercise, sleep, heartrate, etc.
