    Its pretty missleading tbh..
    3 out of 5 stars
    Its pretty missleading tbh..
Lets get the issues right out of the way. This specific model of the QNED series by LG, the QNED80 55 inch, has an edge lit panel. Meaning when trying to use the local dimming feature they so highly promote, there is a huge halo effect across the entire side of the screen that a bright image, next to black, is on.They do NOT promote the fact this model is edge lit. If you dont know much about tvs and find out the hard way, imagine lining up 6 dominos side by side. This is how a edge lit panel is made. 4-8 (idk) vertical panels behind the screen that light up the image. So when using the local dimming feature to get even just a normal black level in even most cheaper tvs, the tv must try to use a entire panel to dim a small bright image on the screen. For example, white subtitles or any white text. If your looking at a dark scene and say some white subtitles pop up, there will be a halo effect all the way up, and down, the panel that is directly behind the subtitles. The QNED 85 and above have ACTUAL local dimming with full array lighting. I got dupped.I didnt bother to get an image of it because there are plenty in other reviews and online.I did include some basic photos that I took with my Samsung s24 ultra in pro mode and tried my best to perfectly match the "look" to how it looks in real life. Theyre not 100% perfect but theyre very close to how the tv looks in real life in a low light and dark lighting condition. The tv also comes with a very low contrast ratio meaning blacks wont look that black even with all the perfect settings if you decide to disable local dimming. Disabling local dimming does, of course, fix the halo effect but then the screen becomes washed out looking in dim, dark lighting due to the native low contrast ratio. For this reason I leave it on high. High has the least amount of halo effect and 85% of the time the image looks better than when its fully disabled. So.. pick your poison.Other than that I didnt buy the tv to be an oled tv, althought some cheaper led tvs have darker blacks. I bought it to play my new ps5 on with the 120hz 4k option. Obviously there are much better options stricktly for gaming however this is still a family living room tv so I didnt want to put all the money into the gaming side of the tv. However I have loved gaming on it. Its a huge upgrade over my previous 50 inch Hisense U5. The input lag isnt as good as my 1500$ pc of course, buts its very minimal and I have gotten used to it. My pc has a 1ms input lag but if I had to simply guess, with the game optimizer options enabled, the tv probably has roughly 6-11ms of input lag. My previous tv felt like it had at least 30ms... so huge upgrade there. Games have looked amazing as well. The black issue isnt as noticeable while gaming because you dont really want a full true deep black in most titles as it makes the ability to see things a pain. So for gaming I would give it a 4 star. With that said the family loves it. My wife is super happy with it. She mainly watches it during the day as she works 1st shift and the tv gets bright and the blacks look good in a brighter room. The colors in the tv can POP too if you like a vivid bright image. Personally I like a bit more of an accurate image but sometimes a more colorful image dont hurt. The trumotion feature also adds another level of watching movies/shows/sports. Depending on the movies or shows of course. It does add a "soap-opera" effect but for anything about nature, or movies that have a lot of high quality vibrant digital effects, it looks amazing. Movies is best to either have it off or use a user setting of 1 dejudder and 0 de-blur. Everything else, the cinematic option is best.Lastly, I dont use it, but Ill include it in the review since I am a audio engineer of 15 years. The sound of the tv speakers is just OKAY. I mean it sounds a lot better than most cheaper tvs but it has a very prominent mid range that you cant really EQ out as they only provide 5 EQ slider options. This is more than a lot of tvs have but still doesnt allow you to adjust the EXACT frequency that seems to be boosted in the software. It goes 100hz, 300hz, 1khz, 3khz, 10khz. I will say the speakers do have a bit of bass though. They have a nice boom and would sound a few times better if the, in my opinion, the 2khz and 4khz frequencies were lowered a bit. There is an AI Sound option in settings/general as well which I believe adds Dolby Atmos, or something similar, to the sound. It really does "open up" the sound and I would highly recommend using this option if you use the tv speakers.I use a soundbar and the quality and connectivity has been great. 0 issues with sound at all.I hope this review helps someone decide!

After over a decade with Samsung TV’s, I’m
Glad I made the switch. I replaced a ~10yo Samsung 65’ with this (its smart feature has not been supported for years.

This 75’ fits my wall width perfectly. It’s not too big. We don’t think our eyes are jumping from
left to right to take it all in. I like how easily accessible the settings that I normally need to access are. I paired it with an LG soundbar, which I think it needed for regular tv watching, and two Apple HomePods when using my Apple TV.

Love the brightest theme; being able to switch to the dimmer settings late at night.

I don’t care how “black the blacks are”, so they look fine to me. I understand that this isn’t an OLED tv, so I didn’t compare. However, I had to tweak the settings because I found it hard to watch dark scenes on movies. I just watched a couple of YouTube videos for best settings recommendations.

The price was just right for me. I don’t like spending a lot of money on TVs and I take really good care of mine. Hence, the reason my previous one lasted over 10 years.

We had the TV professionally installed so that the wires were behind the wall. I installed Govee lights behind the TV. The type that have a camera & movie theater theme the changes the colors based on what’s on the screen.

We’ve gotten so many compliments on the TV when people see it.

4K quality viewing options look amazing on this. Non-4K viewing options clearly reveals pixels which does slightly annoy me because I’m used to 4k quality on the Apple TV.

Had a brief hiccup involving a broken Optical Digital Audio port that came that way out of the box. But a quick replacement was sent within 48 hours. It's been TV viewing heaven ever since.

It's very bright without being overpowering. It has AI picture setup and that allowed me to get the ideal picture for me. That's good because it doesn't involve constant tweaking of the picture. For me it was, quite literally, a "set-it-and-forget-it" type deal.

The apps that come with it are decent to pretty good. The TV audio is decent, but I run the audio via the Optical Digital port to an old LG branded 5.1 home theater system and it sounds excellent! I do plan on upgrading to a sound bar in the not too distant future though.

The Magic Remote is just pure awesomeness! Interesting note: my previous LG TV from 2015 did not come with an actual Magic Remote just the circuitry. I could use my phone as one on that TV. 🤔

I'm loving this TV. I just hope this "love affair" doesn't end any time soon.

I wanted a very large HDTV. Check. I didn't want to go OLED as I had several plasmas and remember ghost images that were hard to go away due to "slight" burn-in. Check. I had read enough about the new very small nano LCD apertures to believe until individually addressable micro led direct view sets become affordable, LG QNED, and Samsung's similar Quantum Dot panels are the way to go. Check. I wanted brightness without crushing dark black Check. I wanted local dimming with the newer mini-led backlight technology. Check.

So, I took a chance and bought this set sight unseen. I didn't make a mistake I'm happy to say. This set can work in a well lit or dark room no problem. It can make levels of black look black, and with detail so no crushing. It has almost non-existent bloom across the entire screen when displaying white letters on black background for instance. It has a modern set of specs like compatible with HDR-10/Dolby Vision. There are a few things I'm thinking are not great, but certainly not deal-breaking stuff. Things like the remote is impossible to use in a dark space (and in my case without reading glasses). The sound isn't cutting edge stuff like the Sony sets that radiate a bigger and more wide-range soundstage using the entire front of the screen...although sound is adequate for now while I'm waiting to see if I can get the new Nakamichi Dragon surround set. Overall, I'm quite pleased with this TV and I'm writing this only a few weeks after paying about $500 more than the currently offered price. The TV is good enough this doesn't even cause me a case of sour grapes, though if I could I'd return it and order it again which I can't cause I threw away the box and packing materials. But make no mistake, I'd definitely buy it again. I have had several LG HDTV's beginning with their somewhat unusual (the only one ever on the market to my knowledge) rear projected 9" CRT tube first ever HDTV then marketed under the Zenith name (a premium name they owned then). It had a great picture but developed problems with showing 720P (progressive inputs) and after repairing it twice they actually offered, and did, buy it back at over $4.5K. Now that's a stand-up company that cares about what they make and the consumer that shells out hard earned dough for their products. I recommend LG HDTV's now as well!

Nice tv. Good sale price. Quality. And being delivered was the icing on the cake. Easy set up bc my son did it. I’m not tech person. Good color. Easy to use once you figure it out.

Movies and shows look great on this TV. I got the 65” and it’s really a joy to watch. The sound is also quite powerful. You definitely won’t need a sound bar. This is my first experience with 4K and it’s pretty mind blowing. The picture is so clear with 4K content that you can see the make-up that’s been applied to actors/actresses faces. I’ve never seen this kind of clarity before. My only gripe with this TV is that there is massive artifacting in the video game mode while using my PS5. For example, when playing Final Fantasy 16 there is significant blur and ghosting in the scenery and on the characters. When the camera moves you can see Clive’s sword on his back and it’s generating a stutter or artifacting where it appears that there are many more swords when in motion. This was sad and breaks immersion a bit. However, this is not a deal breaker and I still feel I got a good deal on this TV. A bit disappointed because I purchased this to play PS5 games.
