Exploring the world of mining On 12 June 2024, Sibanye-Stillwater welcomed 24 postgraduate Journalism students from Stellenbosch University to our Thuthukani shaft in Rand West. The goal was to give these future business journalists a firsthand look at the realities of mining and the significance of the South African mining sector. The students embarked on a tour, descending over 2km underground to experience the processes of clocking, drilling, and extracting gold-bearing material. We hope this experience will inspire a deeper understanding and appreciation of the mining industry's complexity and importance. #SibanyeStillwater #StellenboschUniversity #mining #journalism #education
