Advanced Tips and Tricks to Master CODM: From Nigerian Pro-Gamer Sunless

Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) players: Take your gameplay to the next level with these pro tips and tricks.

In the competitive Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) scene, mastering advanced strategies and tips is key to standing out. Sunless, a Nigerian pro gamer, aspiring YouTuber, and dedicated student, has honed his skills through rigorous practice and a strategic mindset. Today, we take a look into his thoughts and experiences to uncover what makes him a formidable player, especially in clutch situations. Let's explore our conversation with Sunless, his strategies, training routines, and more.

Sunless, you're known for your strategic approach to CODM. Can you walk us through your thought process when tackling a new map or game mode?

Sunless: “When I'm tackling a new game mode, I focus on being unpredictable. I look for unexpected plays or pushes that my opponents wouldn't anticipate. Being unconventional is the name of the game. It keeps the opponents on their toes and gives me an edge.”

What about your thought process during a clutch moment? How do you assess the situation, formulate a plan, and execute it under pressure?

Sunless: “My clutch moments are usually a team effort. I rely heavily on good information from my teammates, even if they’re down. With four more brains backing me up, I can quickly come up with a plan to secure the win. Team communication is very important.”

We all know practice makes perfect. Can you share what your training routines to stay sharp and improve your CODM skills are?

Sunless: “I usually aim to train with my weapon of choice, SMGs, for about 20 minutes before hopping into scrims and ranked matches. My focus is on maintaining above 40% accuracy and reaction time training, complete with strafing and movement drills.”

Every pro gamer has those unforgettable clutch moments. Can you describe a recent in-game situation where your skills truly shone?

Sunless: “The most recent clutch was a 1v4 against Team Fortis in a friendly scrim on the Tunisia map. My teammates were down, but I managed to eliminate all the enemies and secure a plant round. It was a thrilling experience.”

As a devoted CODM player who also enjoys Honor of Kings (HOK), are there any skills or strategies that translate between the two games?

Sunless: “Definitely. Both games require tactical thinking and excellent communication with teammates. HOK is a recent interest of mine, and I'm working on getting really good at it before a pro scene builds up in Africa.”

Every player has their CODM comfort zone. Can you break down your weapon selection process? What factors influence your choice based on map, game mode, and personal preference?

Sunless: “I've got a fondness for the speed SMGs provide and close-quarters combat. My favourite weapon is the Fennec. It's by far the gun I've used more than any other. I choose my weapons based on the map and game mode, prioritizing speed and agility.”

CODM offers a vast arsenal and tactical equipment. What underrated items or strategies do you use to gain an edge and surprise your opponents?

Sunless: “The Gung-Ho perk is underrated. It allows me to reload while on the run, which has saved me countless times, especially during clutches when I'm low on ammo.”

You mentioned being an aspiring YouTuber. What kind of CODM content are you planning to create, and how will your participation in the Carry1st Africa Cup influence your channel?

Sunless: “My CODM content for the Carry1st Africa Cup will focus on match recordings during the qualifiers. I'll also include content from the perspective of the casters and spectators. It should be an exciting way to engage my audience and showcase my gameplay.”

Have you discovered any hidden gem weapons that you think deserve more recognition?

Sunless: “The QXR is a hidden gem. It recently got a good buff, but people use it so little. It's an excellent weapon that deserves more recognition.”

Do you have a favourite map, and how does your playstyle adapt to conquer it consistently?

Sunless: “My favourite map is Summit. It's small and compact, allowing my SMG playstyle to shine, especially against more challenging AR opponents.”

Conversely, is there a map you find particularly challenging? How do you approach overcoming those difficulties?

Sunless: “The most challenging map for me is Hacienda. It's full of corridors and long-range engagements, making it tough for SMGs to shine. I usually resort to smoke tactics to hide and get up close and personal.”

Which game mode (e.g., Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy) best highlights your skills, and why?

Sunless: “Hardpoint best highlights my skills. I'm known for being incredibly difficult to remove from the hardpoint once I'm in it, often giving me a lot of time on the hill.”

Describe your ideal CODM loadout – weapons, perks, scorestreaks – and explain how it reflects your dominant play style.

Sunless: “My ideal loadout includes the Mythic Fennec, paired with the Lightweight and Gung-Ho perks for maximum movement, and Dead Silence for being sneaky. This setup reflects my aggressive, high-mobility playstyle.”

Looking ahead, what features or changes would you love to see implemented in Call of Duty Mobile?

Sunless: “I'd love to see features like the ability to talk to everyone in a lobby at the start, including enemies, and buffing SMGs as we're in an AR-dominant meta. Adding more weapons for the Marksman class would also be great.”
