KANSAS CITY — One of the most electric players on the EYBL circuit this summer has been top-15 prospect Brayden Burries, who is absolutely lighting up the league with his scoring ability.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard from Eleanor Roosevelt (CA) and the Strive for Greatness AAU program, ranks No. 8 in scoring this summer at 21.2 points per game, per the cumulative season statistics page. Burries has also had some huge games, including 40 points against Team Melo in Indianapolis.
“I’m pretty much just a complete basketball player,” Burries said of his game. “I can do everything. Defend, rebound, shoot, drive, play make.”
During Session 4, Burries averaged 22.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 62.5% from the field. His best game was a 34-point outing in 25 minutes in a loss to Drive Nation. While in Kansas City, Burries updated his recruitment to ZAGSBLOG.com. When asked which school were recruiting him hardest, Burries said: “Pretty much the same schools. I haven’t really thought about any of it yet. I’m open to everything.” Burries holds offers from over 25 programs, including Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, California, Duke, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio State, San Diego State, St. John’s, Stanford, TCU, Texas, UCLA, USC, Vanderbilt, Washington and Washington State. The guard said of those programs, Houston, Arizona, UCLA, and Alabama have been recruiting him the longest. Here is his quick breakdown of each program: Houston: “Great coaching staff. They play hard, play defense, play together.” Arizona: “They play fast. Coach [Tommy] Lloyd is a great coach. And also spacing.” UCLA: “Kind of the same. They play fast and get to their spots.” Alabama: “They’re a great team. They also have a great coaching staff. They play real fast. I haven’t really looked into it a lot, but [Nate Oats] is a great coach. I just have to still watch.” The five-star has taken an official visit to Arizona back in February and unofficials to USC and UCLA, the local schools to Burries. As for upcoming visits? “I’ve just been focused on basketball,” Burries said. “But I’m planning on taking some in the future. I don’t know where yet though.” Burries is ranked the No. 12 overall prospect in the 2025 class per 247Sports and the No. 1 player in the state of California.
