Just started coming here this year and so far I've been back 3 times with different groups of people. One of the best Udon place that I've ever been to in Hawaii and maybe even among some other states. The Truffle and Crab cream udon one is my all time favorite!! If I'm really hungry I can finish a. Large bowl on my own. If not, this so great for sharing and doing family style!

Still exploring the menu and so far everything has been tasting so amazing. They're very consistent with the taste and quality of their food.

Parking is validated within the Royal Hawaiian Waikiki parking structure. Service was always fast and the staffs are nice. It's a great place to bring everyone in for a pleasant surprise with their big bowls and delicious udon.

For lunch with my Japanese girlfriends, we agreed on Tsurutontan's udon noodles.

Eating at Tsurutontan, we were happy with udon noodles for the first time in a long time. Too often in the past, other Hawaii restaurant udon noodle dishes disappointed us, so we didn't expect anything too much.

We both decided on curry udon from the lunch special menu, which came with a fried chicken donburi bowl.

As in Japan, the curry udon in Tsurutontan's iconic mega-sized bowl made a powerful visual presentation .

When I saw it, I asked myself, "What was the intention of deciding on this size?" I still wonder.

Fortunately, the udon's texture was moderately chewy, and the curry sauce had a good dashi flavor that Japanese people like.

The temperature was not too cool, and I felt that it was very delicious at just the right temperature.

In the end, we were busy eating udon , so we couldn't eat rice.

The waiter who was watching us casually brought us a doggie bag.

Seeing that most of the wait staff are young people, I said, "Is it because they have the strength to carry a big bowl?" I laughed bitterly while thinking about it.

It was nice to learn that the Kamaaina discount will also be applied to the lunch menu this time!

It can be said that Tsurutonatan, which has a great sense of value among Waikiki lunches, is a representative of Japanese food that is still loved not only by tourists but also by locals.

TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie, located on the 3rd floor of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, offers a convenient spot for a meal. We made a reservation and arrived to find the restaurant not too busy, but it became crowded by the time we left. Unfortunately, upon entering the restaurant, we noticed a strong burnt smell that lingered throughout our meal, which was unpleasant. We were seated in a booth by the window, but there were huge flies that disrupted our dining experience.

For our meal, we ordered the salmon ikura donburi, which featured fresh salmon sashimi and ikura, the sizzling ribeye steak, salmon onion truffle ponzu, rice set (including rice, miso, and tsukemono), and the TsuruTonTan salad (with cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce). While the food was delicious, one of the huge flies dive-bombed into the garlic chips and sauce that came with the ribeye steak. Fortunately, our server kindly provided a replacement when we flagged him down.

The service, however, was on the slow side. It also took a long time for someone to bring us the check and then cash us out. Despite the tasty food, the slow service and unpleasant smell left a less than ideal impression.

Delicious spot for udon! They also have a variety of food to choose from as well. I've came here for both lunch (happy hour) and dinner time. If you love seafood and something creamy, I recommend the mentai kamatama or the uni cream udon. Both are super flavorful and delicious! I also recommend the shime saba as it's torched to perfection! It's super juicy and a staple to get at this place! For the lunch, theres a menu for you to create your own combo of noodles/udon with a side dish or you can select a set and upgrade it if you'd like. You also have a choice of skinny udon or the typical thick udon to have for you noodles. They also ask if you'd like a free portion upgrade to a large for free of charge! The portions are definitely very shareable as it comes with a lot!

The quality of the food and service from the staff has always been top tier! Located in the Royal Hawaiian, the restaurant is super popular. Be prepared as it will get busy especially during rush peak lunch and dinner hours. The interior is very modern and stylish.

Came by for their 50% off deal and had a great time. We got a variety of items, like the truffle salmon sashimi, blue crab California roll, sunfire roll, beef udon, and mentai kamatama udon. We also got a few 50% drinks, like sake and highballs.

Everything was tasty and generously portioned. Interestingly, we were offered free upgrades to large udons at no additional cost - might be part of the promotion? The beef udon bowl was MASSIVE, but the udon itself was a bit soggy. The cold mentai kamatama udon was great - noodles had fantastic texture and the sauce was flavorful.

Service was friendly and attentive. I'd recommend going during the 50% window, else the prices are a bit high in my opinion.

Took the kids here last week and we ordered way too much food. We couldn't finish it all. The bowls itself are humongous and you can add the sushi for a little more extra. Be sure to bring your appetite with you though.

Got there shortly after the restaurant opened and less than half the tables were full. We got seated right away and the waitress was very attentive. My mom had a few questions about the menu, and the waitress was knowledgeable and explained things clearly.

I ordered the katsu curry and it was really delicious. If it weren't for the panko breading peeling off and the huge fatty cube in my broth (curry has beef in it), I'd score it higher than 4/5.

Although our order was taken quickly, the food seemed to take a long time to come out -- especially with it looking like a slower lunch crowd.

Overall, worth the drive to Waikiki. Don't forget to have your parking ticket validated too! First hour is free and it was $3 for the second hour.

My order wasn't forgotten this year yay! I got the sukiyaki again and it didn't fail.

The truffle crab is delish and rich with flavor.

Beef is a good original go to.

The #1 popular is good as well but I think sukiyaki was the clear winner.

The price is same for regular or large size so always go with large!

Service was slow as well and the kitchen backed up. Although there was only one party ahead of us when we reached the restaurant we had to wait quite a bit to get seated as well as our order taken and getting our food.

We came at the right time earlier today during lunch. Perhaps around 11.30am prior to busy lunch period. We didn't make reservation but were able to get seated right away.

They have extensive menu to choose from and they have various lunch special menus where you can choose/create your own combo.

The deluxe curry udon is delicious!
