In recognition of our corporate sustainability efforts, in 2024 Corporate Knights ranked Stantec within the top ten, and number one in the firm’s industry peer group, in the Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World. Stantec achieved our goal of being a Carbon Neutral organization in 2022, and we are on track to achieve Net Zero Operations by 2030. Our commitments and dedication to sustainability are at the heart of how we operate and influence the solutions we deliver to our clients.

Stantec is home to the Carbon Impact Team, one of the largest dedicated sustainability and building performance practices with specialized teams located across North America. Members of this team are specialists who focus only on sustainability and provide an integrated, long-term approach to projects. It is through integration that we create alignment across our functional disciplines and establish strategies to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of a building early in the design process.

Committed to shaping more sustainable and resilient communities, our team uses established industry frameworks to help clients take ambitious steps toward a better future. Frameworks help us evaluate our projects, and guide each design decision, to minimize the environmental and health related risks and carbon footprints. Our portfolio of sustainable work includes projects for which we’ve led sustainability efforts and/or collaborated with a partner to achieve certifications through design. Of more than 1,500 certified or registered projects, over 950 are LEED certified, and nearly 50 are designed to achieve net zero.

As a leader in sustainable design and design for occupant wellness, we apply high standards and work in unison with our clients to achieve sustainable design goals. We are committed to demonstrating leadership in sustainability and encourage responsible stewardship within our practice, our projects, and our communities.
