The internet is outraged as many call a popular family vlogger husband "selfish" after he raised a stink when his wife didn't throw separate celebrations for his birthday and Father's Day last year, which just so happened to fall on the same day.

Matt and Abby Howard document their life on TikTok and other social media platforms, discussing their relationship and parenting. They have two children, Griffin and August, the second of whom Abby was heavily pregnant with last June.

The couple had just returned from their "babymoon" in Mexico, and she threw Matt a party at their home, inviting all their family and some friends, and Matt grilled. Abby also bought him a cake from Dairy Queen.

But Matt appeared utterly unappreciative of his wife's efforts, stating in their "Unplanned" podcast that "it kind of was a bummer" that his birthday and Father's Day fell on the same day last year — June 18.

Abby laid into him, explaining to listeners that she had been heavily pregnant and that the Arizona couple had just returned from their babymoon. She said in the viral clip, "Last year, it was June 18, which is Matt's birthday, so he had Father's Day and his birthday on the same day, and I will say, I did kind of combine the holidays."

Matt interjected and said, "You did combine the two of them. It's OK, though. I mean, you were pregnant. You were uncomfortable. You were close."

Abby then defended herself, adding to what Matt already admitted to: "We had just gotten back from our babymoon that day. I got you a cake from DQ and had our family over and grilled."

Matt then lambasted her, saying, "Well, I grilled, but I know a lot of dads grill on their birthday. But yeah." At that point, Abby, who had kept a straight face and appeared unbothered, began to get a bit angry.

Abby retorted, "And I grew your child all day, every day." Matt admitted, "You did grow my child, but like, Father's Day and my birthday were the same exact day, and it kind of was a bummer."

"I'm going to be honest with you — I failed you. I'm so sorry," Abby said, a look of defeat seeping into her angry expression. Matt then revealed that the couple was "boycotting" Father's Day this year and are instead having a celebration three months after Matt's birthday.

Fans of the couple were not impressed by Matt's commentary. One user wrote, "He needs to touch grass." Another added, "Is Matt a baby? Who still cares about birthdays at that age?" Yet another added, "I'm failing to see how she failed, it seems like you had a good celebration, what else was he expecting?" That user added a nervous face emoji.

One user slammed Matt's comment about him being the one who was grilling, writing, "him saying 'i grilled' i bet she bought and prepared every thing and cleaned everything and he watched the meat on the barbecue."

Yet another user laid into Matt even harder, writing in a comment that was later taken down, "Matt is so selfish. Abby was pregnant, just got back from a vacation, still planned a BBQ celebration with cake... and she failed Matt? How? What a selfish human being Matt is. Wow."

"‘I failed you I’m so sorry.’ And he didn’t correct her. She DID NOT fail him," another angry commenter said, adding shrugging emojis, while another summed up what most seemed to be thinking, also adding a nervous face emoji to hers: "Why wouldn’t you combine them though? They are two occasions celebrating the same person so surely one celebration is perfect?"

Matt and Abby got married in 2019 during their sophomore years of college. The 25-year-olds were high school sweethearts, but after having their second baby, their relationship has been strained, fans were quick to point out. Many are holding out hope that they break up.
