A mom claims parents should cover the costs of their child's playdate. TikTok user @shay.nanigans87 claims parents should send the hosting family money when two kids have a playdate.

“Can we normalize sending the other family money for playdates?” she said in the clip.

Her daughter recently had a friend over, and the two spent time coloring, playing with dolls and drawing with sidewalk chalk. When the gathering was over, she sent a text to the other mom asking to share the expenses.

In the text to the other mom, she wrote: “Thanks for letting Jamie play today, please help out with your share of the expenses for the play date totaling $15 via Venmo! Let’s do it again soon!”

She clarified she can’t keep hosting playdates because of how expensive it is, and the monetary obligation shouldn’t be forced on one parent. The other mom responded, “Expenses?”

The user broke down the total cost. She used chalk ($1), applesauce ($1), fruit ($1), three juice boxes ($2) and yogurt ($1). She also sat on the couch which caused wear and tear ($1), broke a doll ($5) and took three trips to the bathroom ($3).
