Best of late night: Amy Schumer flashes Dave and Python take over Tonight

This article is more than 9 years old

This week saw Fallon get his face covered in tape, while elsewhere there was a Full House exclusive and a chat about Tiger Woods with girlfriend Lindsey Vonn

Jimmy Fallon played Say Anything with Blake Lively

Lively has been making the rounds on late night this week to promote her new immortality epic The Age of Adaline. In addition to a charming interview about fangirling all over co-star Harrison Ford, the 27-year-old joined Fallon for a rousing game of Say Anything. The two went back and forth saying the first words that popped into their heads, and any time they found themselves at a loss they ended up with tape stuck to their face. (It’s more fun than it sounds, trust me.) Lively didn’t miss a beat but Fallon was shockingly bad at it, and ended the segment looking like the monster from a low-budget horror film.

Monty Python took over the Tonight Show

Fallon’s couch looked like the celebrity wing of a luxury retirement complex last night, as Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Eric Idle joined ageing, witty forces to celebrate the release of a new Holy Grail box set. When famously grumpy Cleese got tired of his seat, he swapped with Fallon and hosted the remainder of the interview, which completely devolved into Fallon’s poor selection of British accents. Just when it seemed like things were totally off the rails, the Pythons and Fallon pulled an Oprah on the audience: they all got tickets to an exclusive Monty Python-attended Grail screening.

Lindsey Vonn talked about dating Tiger Woods

In case you were unaware, Olympic skiier Lindsey Vonn, 28, has been dating famous golfer and adulterer Tiger Woods, 37. Not to editorialize, but ... it seems like a bad idea. Two athletes, dating? While this is perhaps the very last of a long list of reasons that dating Tiger Woods seems like a mistake, that’s what Meyers focused on when Vonn stopped by the Late Night desk this week to talk about her charitable organization, the Lindsey Vonn Foundation. While Woods’ alleged exorbitant sex worker orgies and lengthy legal battle with his ex-wife didn’t come up, there still might be trouble in paradise: when asked if she enjoyed watching golf, Vonn couldn’t even fake it. Good luck, kids!

Amy Schumer flashed David Letterman, kinda

Schumer’s gearing up for season three of her hit sketch series with the release of some great sketches online and, of course, a tour of the late-night circuit. She had a fun rapport in particular with Letterman, with whom she chatted about what we can expect from this new season, as well as her recent turn hosting the MTV Movie Awards. When Dave pointed out it was almost certainly Schumer’s last-ever time on his show (Letterman’s last episode as host airs 20 May), the two agreed she should “do something she regrets”. Seemingly participating in the long history of women who have for some reason decided to flash David Letterman on national television, Schumer lifted her dress up, stopping at a scar on her thigh: “That’s my vagina.”

John Stamos announced a Full House reboot

In what was perhaps the week’s most talked about though least entertaining late-night clip, America’s handsome uncle John Stamos gave Kimmel an exclusive-ish confirmation: the Full House cast will be reuniting for a spinoff series on Netflix. “Five minutes ago they sealed the deal,” he said. “We’ve been working on this for many, many years. I think we’ve finally got it perfect.” Many of the cast members are on board, but they’re not sure about the Olsen twins. “If we can’t get the Olsen twins,” Stamos said to Jimmy, “we’re gonna dress you up.” How rude.
