Opera

Directed by Dario Argento

A stalker torments an opera star by forcing her to watch her friends being murdered in one of giallo horror god Dario Argento’s most terrifying films. When young operetta Betty is thrust into a leading role in Verdi’s Macbeth, she’s unprepared for the carnage that’s going to be unleashed. Soon enough she’s being stalked by a black-gloved killer who loves tieing Betty up and taping needles around her eyes so she - and by extension us - are forced to watch the vicious slayings. The great Brian Eno and Goblin’s Claudio Simonetti composed the stellar score.

A stalker torments an opera star by forcing her to watch her friends being murdered.

Cast: Cristina Marsillach, Ian Charleson, Daria Nicolodi, Coralina Cataldi-Tassoni

love this one , it feels the most “90s” of any giallo I’ve seen. Argento is back in top form with the sinuous camera work, stunning visuals and art direction. The mystery hooked me from the start and the killer(s) reveal is quite good and unexpected. One of my favorite giallos ever.

Decided to watch this one cause it had great review but it was too cheesy for me and it felt like there was no transition at all between some of scenes

A bit of a slower beginning, but it picks up the longer the movie goes. The ending definitely raises my feelings for the movie! All in all, rating from basic to bitchin', I'd give a solid Cool.
