With One UI 5.0, Samsung’s flagship phones finally get camera watermark feature

Most Android phones come with the option to add a watermark to pictures shot using the camera. It's a feature Samsung adopted a few years ago for its budget and mid-range devices but it never made it to flagship Galaxy phones. However, that is all set to change with Samsung's One UI 5.0 update.

It should be noted that Samsung has had the option to add watermarks to images for a long time, but on its flagship phones, that could only be done through the photo editor after a picture was taken. On One UI 5.0, the watermark is added to each captured picture automatically when it's saved to the device gallery.

We already showcased this feature in our video detailing all the new stuff One UI 5.0 comes with, but we thought it deserves a separate article considering how this is one of those few times a feature from Samsung's affordable devices is making its way to the company's high-end phones.

One UI 5 watermark feature

Samsung has made the camera watermark feature on One UI 5.0 very customizable. You can choose whether each photo you capture has a string of text (the text is set to the name of the device by default, but you can change it), the date and time, or both, and you can change the alignment of the watermark. Oh, and you can also select from a list of different fonts for the text.

We're assuming this watermark option in the camera app will be standard across all devices that get One UI 5.0, including other flagships like the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 or last year's Galaxy S21; budget and mid-range Galaxy phones that already have the watermark feature, meanwhile, will likely get the new customization options. Guess we will only get the answer once the final version of One UI 5.0 starts to roll out to supported Galaxy devices.
