It is a truth universally acknowledged that store dressing rooms are every woman’s worst nightmare. The number one complaint voiced by women and men everywhere is that the lighting is harsh, glaring and reminiscent of the dentist’s chair or perhaps a police interrogation room ("No, officer, I did not realize that pairing Converse with Versace was a crime against fashion").

SND Concept Store, a retail interior by Various Associates, creates a pristine white stage against a pitch-black backdrop, displaying the collections of clothing like precious treasures and luring visitors to embark on an exploration. The innovative lighting system brings the black-and-white space to life through the play of light and shadows. “Rustic Modern” Mackintosh Limited’s casual brand, Traditional Weatherwear, opened its first flagship store in the lower level in the same building where the Mackintosh Aoyama Store is located.
