When thinking about Hebert's seventh chapter, I couldn't help but think about how many times I've heard teachers/educators refer to students that were underachieving as just being "lazy" or "careless". There is truly SO much that could be influencing a student's achievement/performance--Hebert delves into how "personality, family, social, cultural, and environmental or school-related influences" (p. 233) that can cause a student to underachieve.
