For some reason, adults think that before a child's needs are met they must first meet the expectations of adults. Regardless of whether they are equipped to meet those expectations. We often expect children to find a way to reach the bar that is on our adult level. Instead of lowering the bar to their level. People tend to think if they lower the bar that children won't have the motivation to do better. But, children are naturally curious, ready to learn and explore.
