(MIcrochip WIreless) A wireless personal area network (WPAN) protocol from Microchip Technology that is based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. MiWi is used with various Microchip (PIC brand) microcontrollers and requires much less storage and RAM than ZigBee. MiWi P2P is the lighter-weight peer-to-peer version, while MiWi PRO supports a mesh network with up to 8,000 nodes. See 802.15, PIC and ZigBee.
