ONLINE ABORTION RESOURCE SQUAD

We’re from the Internet and we’re here to help.

The Online Abortion Resource Squad (OARS) runs the abortion subreddit. Our peer-based online counseling model helps ensure that in the enormous ocean of the internet, people have the information, support, and resources they need to access safe abortion care no matter where they live.

People turn to Reddit when they have trouble locating resources, find themselves lost in a maze of (mis)information, or don’t know whom to trust. Our trained volunteers provide expert navigation and support services to the 90,000 individuals who visit r/abortion every month.

This public forum is a critical resource for the people most impacted by restrictive laws and barriers to access. To date, we’ve helped people from all 50 states, DC, and (at least) 118 countries access safe abortion care.

“Prior to my abortion I never used Reddit, but this was the only place I could find real information and real stories. “

“Thank you for including the information on financial assistance. I reached out to a local organization, via your link, and was able to get $300 assistance towards my abortion, which was half. I cannot thank you and this group enough for helping me get through this difficult time, even just as a lurker.”

“It’s really hard not to feel alone, but this Reddit group has honestly been such a big help in making me feel validated in my experience.”

"The emotional and logistical support on this sub is unmatched. ❤️ Thank you for hearing me."

“This has been such a blessing especially for us living in countries where abortion is illegal. We can’t get the right help elsewhere.”

“I honestly don't think I could've taken the pills without the advice and support. The best advice I was given was that this is MY journey. How it goes and how I receive the pain is up to me. It can go better or worse depending on how bad I panic or how bad I stress. So the best thing I could do was to not stress or panic or fear anything.”

"I tried to ask my primary doctor for suggestions on where to go and they had basically no information for me. This gives me a great start of other places to look. It seemed like my options were much more limited before this."

Your generous support makes this work possible.
