User Interviews

Uncover in-depth, accurate insights about your users

A user interview is a one-on-one conversation with a target user, typically conducted during a project's discovery phase. User interviews are a quick way to learn about your users and build empathy. When performed well, they provide an in-depth view of your target users’ lives, experiences, thoughts, beliefs, and mindsets. Interview data is used to inform many deliverables like user-need statements, personas, customer journey maps, and more.

Facilitating an interview and knowing when and how to probe without leading can be challenging for new researchers, and interview questions may be difficult to write without introducing bias or priming participants. Additionally, analyzing interview data can be challenging due to the large amount of varied qualitative data produced.

In this course, you will learn how to prepare for and conduct a successful semi-structured interview. You will also learn how to analyze interview data using thematic analysis.

"I've been doing interviews for a year without any formal training and this class brought so much structure, clarity and 'ah-ha' moments to my process. Totally worth it."
