Emerging Patterns in Interface Design

Trending UX Patterns and their impact on the user experience.

Design trends come and go, but which ones have staying power and a lasting impact? Many new and buzzworthy design patterns end up becoming costly mistakes in the long run because they were based on assumptions, rather than data. Learn about recent design patterns that won’t go stale tomorrow. Get evidence-based insights to help you decide which practices will work best for your designs and how to apply them effectively. Learn how to effectively evaluate UI patterns and the impact they have on the total user experience.

In this course, we go beyond temporary design trends and instead examine emerging patterns – an emerging pattern is a new design approach that is novel, solves real problems, and provides value, but isn’t widespread and fully settled yet. These patterns have the potential to have a lasting impact when it effectively considers user and business needs together.

This course will look at patterns emerging from a broad range of websites, applications, contexts, and industries and will equip you with skills to analyze emerging patterns.

"I found myself looking back and evaluating design decisions more critically and informed. I can already tell there are several things we will refine and new ideas we will adopt."
