Current Resident: I grew up in Overland Park. Great community of very nice and friendly citizens. Great schools. Terrific shopping. Good job opportunities. 20-30 minutes' drive to literally ANYTHING you'd be interested in going to. I moved away in my late 20's to the Pacific Northwest--not my cup of tea, and quite frankly, culture shock. After 3 years I couldn't WAIT to get out (not used to unfriendly people) and moved back to the Midwest, settling in suburban St. Louis-Chesterfield. Felt so good to be around friendly Midwest residents again, and I stayed for 13 years before I went through a life-changing event and then was presented with an opportunity to "Go Home" which I took. I moved back to Overland Park after about 17 years. A lot had changed. Overland Park had grown considerably, but the people were still as friendly as ever, the community was still beautifully maintained, still safe, and OP continues to draw more new residents every year. Current Resident: It has been great ever since i moved here. The apartment managers are very understanding and although there are some inconveniences in the apartment it has been good. The school I go to is also good I get free lunch and breakfast, free bus rides and also the library is not far from my home, so I go there if I need something. There are also free condiments at the town center so if I want, I can get free food. Everything is also on a very close basis, you can very easily reduce your carbon footprint. Neighborhoods are child-friendly, are clean, and whether you are looking to rent or buy, you can find houses at very good prices. Night-life is also a fun time with the right people of course. Current Resident: The pubic schools are terrible and I feel like it is more of a social situation than a learning situation. Jobs are hard to find, the pay for the available jobs are low and most have been the same as they have been 18 years ago. The traffic is terrible, and multiple new age drivers are scared of driving because of the dangerousness and high intensity of road rage and multiple accidents. You can't get anywhere in the city without driving and at least everyone above the age of 16 is required to have a car because of this issue. You can tell if a person is not from here, or if they have had at least 5 years or less of experience driving here. This is because of the high difficulty driving most of the roads. Any efforts put into improving the driving conditions are given to the downtown area, which is increasingly scattered with the homeless and gangsters. I do not consider Lincoln to be a safe place....
