Current Resident: First of all, I love living here. My biggest beef? I'm a mountain guy and as much as I love the Green Mountains of Vermont, they're still not truly mountains to me. My kids went to the public high school here and it is totally what you make of it - huge resources there for you to use, but you have to do it. Such a convenient place to live, 20 minutes to the airport if no traffic (and I'm on the far side), walking distance to mutliple grocery stores and a variety of restaurants and mostly everything I need. I'm somewhat shocked at the grades given - A+ for nightlife? Well, as long as it's before 11:30pm. B- for weather? It's great, we have four seasons and winter it's rarely gray and depressing, weather comes through and then it's sunny and happy. B- for Crime? This is a super safe place, not sure why the low rating. C- for cost of living - yes, but Cambridge and metro Boston provides a large number of high paying positions, which makes the B for jobs seems way too low.... Read 135 reviews

Current Resident: I live in the heart of the city, right off of Golden Gate Park and Haight Street. I am thrown into a world-wind of diversity and tourism. I am constantly meeting new people and give them reviews of my experiences living in a major city. Being able to bus 10 minutes to get the best Pho in the city, then commuting another 30 minutes to reach the Golden Gate Bridge and having a picnic date at Crissy Fields. I have met a wide variety of different kinds of people who have drastically different lives. In the Marina, I am able to meet those who work in tech and big companies, then I can go to Inner Richmond and meet small business owners who own their business with their family. There is new projects being built everyday to help bridge the gap within the community. The ongoing protests that occur blocks away from me, will always motivation me to fight for what I believe in and how the possibilities are endless. Works Here: Many activities for people of all ages. There is usually some kind of event going on every weekend, especially during the summer. Traffic is usually pretty hectic, so if you are able to avoiding driving you will be thankful for it. The city is pretty pedestrian and bike friendly, and there are even electric scooters and bikes you can rent to go on your own little adventure! Lots of diverse food options but it can get pretty expensive if you eat out regularly, particularly of you order door dash or uber eats frequently. It gets absolutely beautiful in the spring and summertime -- nothing beats the summer in Seattle. If you aren't already the "outdoorsy" type, you might just find yourself becoming an avid outdoorsman if you spend enough time in the Seattle area. There are plenty of hiking trails, parks, and water activities for those brave enough to give them a try! During the winter time, take a trip up to the mountains for some snowboarding or skiing.... Former Resident: Boston is a fantastic city with lots to offer. It has lots of history, beautiful architecture, plenty of outdoor activities and some of the greatest restaurants in the world. It’s very easy to get around the city by foot and taking public transportation. That said, if you’re able to take the T to and from work and have a supermarket within walking distance of where you live, you probably won’t need to own a car. Traffic in Boston is heavy, especially during rush hour, and parking can be very expensive and hard to come by. Boston also has a ton of beautiful parks. While it may lack some vibrancy compared to cities such as NYC and Chicago, it still offers plenty of nightlife and entertainment. Overall, Boston can be a great city for young professionals, families and even retirees. It definitely offers a slower pace compared to NYC, but you won’t be bored in Boston either. It has all the elements you'd expect of any metro (professional sports, great food, nightlife), but it still has neighborhoods and pockets that give it a home-like feel. There are multiple Fortune 500 companies in the area, tons of parks and lakes, and it's not too hard to get around. One thing to keep in mind is how tough the winters can be. Some years, there are week-long stretches when the temperature is -10 Degrees Fahrenheit. And some years there is so much snow you wouldn't believe. Current Resident: The biggest crime I've seen is Catalytic Converters being stolen (It's happened 7 or 8 times on my street that I know of, in the past 3-5 years). Otherwise it's a pretty safe area. Current Resident: Austin as a city is one in a perpetual state of change, it seems to be constantly expanding and zooming with new life. That is one of the things I love about Austin, but for some I can see it being a problem. If you are someone who enjoys the newest chances and experiences, Austin is a great place to be. Some things can definitely be improve in the city, the response to homelessness is not the best I have seen, and there is a rather large population of unhoused people. The public transportation and amenities also leave much to be desired. That is not to say that Austin does not have public spaces, the parks and outdoor spaces in Austin are amazing! Google Fiber is coming in the next few years (maybe not soon enough for your 2-year project) and the local cable provider (Cox Communications) is installing gigabit internet fiber across the city soon, too. Current Resident: I've lived here in Plano for about 4 year, I very much like the neighborhood it's nice and quite and very close to everything I need, and about 15 minutes from my school (UTD). The city is a bit strict and picky regarding lawn care which is a bit annoying. It also takes the city quite a long to get the roads fixed, when I first moved here the same parts of Coit rd was under construction for about a year, and now its Parker.
