Current Resident: It has been great ever since i moved here. The apartment managers are very understanding and although there are some inconveniences in the apartment it has been good. The school I go to is also good I get free lunch and breakfast, free bus rides and also the library is not far from my home, so I go there if I need something. There are also free condiments at the town center so if I want, I can get free food. Current Resident: It's nice. It's safe as hell, it's within driving distance, within about 20 minutes to the beach, and about 3 or 4 hours to the mountains. There's shopping, there's decent places to eat in Irvine itself, and a bunch of great places all across OC within driving distance. Google Fiber is coming in the next few years (maybe not soon enough for your 2-year project) and the local cable provider (Cox Communications) is installing gigabit internet fiber across the city soon, too. The reasons not to live here are that it's boring, it's practically owned by the Irvine Corporation which raises rents on good restaurants and stores and forces them out, the home prices are very high, the homeowner's associations are the only legal gangs in the city (hyperbole, but never underestimate the spite-filled overly righteous board member senior citizens with too much time on their hands, walking around and tallying up infractions while everyone else is at work/school).... Current Resident: I grew up in Overland Park. Great community of very nice and friendly citizens. Great schools. Terrific shopping. Good job opportunities. 20-30 minutes' drive to literally ANYTHING you'd be interested in going to. I moved away in my late 20's to the Pacific Northwest--not my cup of tea, and quite frankly, culture shock. After 3 years I couldn't WAIT to get out (not used to unfriendly people) and moved back to the Midwest, settling in suburban St. Louis-Chesterfield. Felt so good to be around friendly Midwest residents again, and I stayed for 13 years before I went through a life-changing event and then was presented with an opportunity to "Go Home" which I took. I moved back to Overland Park after about 17 years. A lot had changed. Nearby Resident: Richardson has a quiet suburban feel while being surrounded by the city. It's within driving distance of major shopping including grocery, pharmacy, and clothing retail. There are really diverse restaurants and eateries on nearly every corner such as Ethiopian ,Indian, Italian, and Mediterranean, but there is also your usual places like Whataburger and Chic-Fil-A. The area is very safe, children ride their bikes outside, there's a beautiful tree lined walking trail that spans several city blocks, and it's vary rare that you encounter panhandlers. Current Resident: Carlsbad is a very safe, family friendly city with lots of things to do in North County San Diego. I grew up in here and currently live here raising my kids. When choosing a neighborhood we were extremely selective, and we chose Bressi Ranch. It is such a gem! The houses are so cute and quaint, some with wrap around front porches, some with large lawns and picket fences, some have larger back yards. We can walk to restaurants and coffee shops. I have loved this town and there are so many opportunities to do something. There are farmers markets, shopping, and too many food places to count! The city is pretty pedestrian and bike friendly, and there are even electric scooters and bikes you can rent to go on your own little adventure!
