Naperville Reviews
Rating 4.19 out of 5 730 reviews
Naperville, Illinois, is a remarkable city that stands out for its blend of suburban charm, vibrant community, and ample amenities, making it a fantastic place to live, despite the higher cost of living. While it's true that expenses in Naperville can be significant, the benefits and quality of life this city offers far outweigh the costs for many residents. Nestled along the DuPage River, Naperville boasts a picturesque downtown area that is both historic and bustling with modern life. The Riverwalk, often referred to as the "crown jewel" of Naperville, offers serene walking paths, beautifully landscaped parks, fountains, and covered bridges. This scenic area is a perfect place for families and individuals to relax, and enjoy the natural beauty of the city. Naperville's education system is another major draw. The city is home to some of the best public schools in the state, consistently ranking highly in academic performance. The city hosts numerous events throughout the year.
Do you like living in a dust bowl? Do you enjoy keeping your windows closed due to noise and pollution? Then Naperville is for you. For the past several years, I haven't been able to enjoy being outside at home, or even having my windows open on nice days. The rate of demolishing houses and taking years to build new ones that span lot line to lot line is insane; people live on top of one another here and it's quite claustrophobic.
Downtown is another matter; while it is quaint, the constant construction and turnover rate of corporate stores keeps the attention span of residents quite short.
The schools are good, but school success pressure is high.
I'd recommend Naperville 10 years ago, but advise against it at this point.

We moved to Naperville with remote jobs that allowed us to live anywhere. Why? The schools and the community! People are genuine friends here and the park district offers so many activities. The teachers in D203 are professional and teach a “can’t do YET” positivity mindset. The downtown makes the city feel small and vibrant. Summer is the best season here with Centennial Beach, swim teams for the kids and outdoor concerts. In winter residents decorated their houses in creative themes with the goal of getting on the Believe Map. There is even a Christmas trolley that drives past the best homes. Naperville is not very economical diverse, but it is international! We are European immigrants and there are people of all nationalities and many language opportunities for kids. We have moved many times and Naperville was the easiest place to feel at home.
