Growing up in Evanston has showcased its strong community spirit. From my time as a high school cheerleader to witnessing athletes lead community service initiatives, unity has always been evident. Cheering wasn't just about sports; it was about celebrating together. This extends beyond athletics, with athletes often giving back.
Evanston's numerous community centers further highlight this commitment. They offer safe spaces for all ages to gather, socialize, and participate in activities. Whether after school, for fitness, or recreational programs, these centers foster connectivity.
The city's youth empowerment efforts, like the summer job program, underscore its dedication to nurturing future generations. Evanston isn't just a place; it's a community where kindness, support, and active participation create a vibrant sense of belonging.

I moved to Evanston as a freshman in high school. We live in a neighborhood about 1 or 2 blocks from the high school (ETHS). Since living here I noticed that everything is easily accessible, public transport is really useful and I think most would agree with me. The lake is 15-30 minutes away and the public beaches are available for all residents for free. All Chicago beaches are free for everyone, and I believe that college students get a beach pass. Northwestern even has their own beach that is open to the public occasionally.
It’s a very nice place to live, it can be expensive, especially when prices goes up and taxes are the highest anywhere, but it’s a relatively safe place and walkable.
