Austin Reviews
Rating 4.2 out of 5 2,556 reviews
Austin as a city is one in a perpetual state of change, it seems to be constantly expanding and zooming with new life. That is one of the things I love about Austin, but for some I can see it being a problem. If you are someone who enjoys the newest chances and experiences, Austin is a great place to be. Some things can definitely be improve in the city, the response to homelessness is not the best I have seen, and there is a rather large population of unhoused people. The public transportation and amenities also leave much to be desired. That is not to say that Austin does not have public spaces, the parks and outdoor spaces in Austin are amazing! Be careful in the summer though, as we do have the classic Texas heat. If you want to experience Texas, but also a ton of other amazing cultures, Austin is a great choice too. You have quick access to the the Texas Hill Country, but also so many culturally enriching experiences within the city.
Living in Austin, TX, my whole life has been a journey marked by witnessing the city's dynamic evolution. I've seen Austin transform from a relatively quiet, quirky town to a bustling metropolitan hub. The charm of the live music scene and the vibrant cultural festivals have only grown, adding to the city's allure. However, this growth hasn't come without its challenges. The surge in population has led to increased traffic congestion and rising living costs, sometimes making it difficult to recognize the simpler, more laid-back Austin of my childhood. Despite these changes, the city's spirit of innovation and community remains strong, and I continue to cherish the unique blend of tradition and modernity that defines Austin.
I enjoyed living in Austin in the early 2000's. Austin had quirky areas, great dining choices, and a relatively safe downtown music scene. Since then, there have been a lot of changes for the worst. There are fewer music venues, terrible traffic all hours of the day, and ugly tall apartments in the downtown area that changed the beautiful skyline into an atrocious mess. Ideally, those tall buildings would be removed, the area would return to its quirky nature and big businesses would choose better locations with good infrastructure to support their facilities.
