A friend of President Volodymyr Zelensky has recalled her horror at seeing "arms and legs torn off" in the streets of Kyiv.

Nataliya Roman, a singer and former TV presenter in Ukraine, has also pleaded for more food and water for the Ukrainian capital as there were days he couldn't eat or drink.

Appearing on Lorraine today, Nataliya - who first met Zelensky while he was in the entertainment industry - opened up about what kind of man he was.

"He has a very big heart... he never stops supporting people," she said. "He will use all his power, faith, humour and I hope we will win this war."

Addressing what it was like in Kyiv at the moment, Nataliya said: "I was in Kyiv for all this time and it's impossible. People wake up at 4 o'clock five days ago and haven't slept til now because it's impossible.

"Bombs, tanks on the street and arms and legs; someone's legs get torn off. It was impossible to become . All cities, 15, 20 cities at one time under attack. It's something unbelievable.

Nataliya also revealed that she should be on a sold-out tour in Ukraine at the moment, but that it has obviously been cancelled.

"I have [what] should be a big tour in Ukraine," she said. "I need to be with people because they cry, they are nervous... I should support myself with them because when I have work, it's a little bit better."

Asked what they need in Kyiv at the moment, she said: "They need water, need food... sometimes they don't have food or water."

It comes after distressing footage of a terrifyingly enormous blast near Kharkiv has been captured as Ukrainians faced another day of bloodshed.
