Coleen Nolan has shared more tragedy from her family - as she explains the “guilt” she felt welcoming her daughter Ciara when her sister Bernie had lost her own child.
The 53-year-old star has three children including her 17-year-old daughter, while Bernie - who died of cancer in 2013 aged 52 - had one daughter named Erin.
During a discussion on Loose Women on Monday, Coleen revealed she and her late sister Bernie were looking forward to becoming parents again together.
However, where Coleen had an uncomplicated pregnancy, Bernie sadly lost her own child.
"Me and Bernie, actually, got pregnant at the same time,” Coleen revealed to a sympathetic panel.
“I got pregnant with Ciara, and Bernie was pregnant a couple of weeks before me, we kinda found out. It was all going nicely, and they were due to be born a couple of weeks apart and then Bernie miscarried,” she sadly revealed.
"She was devastated, and her husband was devastated. So, it was hard for me at every scan,” Coleen confessed.
"She’d phone me up and ask for updates, and to feel my bump but I felt awkward,” the star admitted.
Coleen revealed her sister supported her every step of the way despite her own heartache.
"Having said that, when Ciara was born Bernie was the first to turn up at the hospital apart from Ray and that made me cry,” Coleen explained.
"Bernie said, 'I’m delighted for you, I wanted my own… I don’t resent you having one.' But, I felt awkward – I felt really, almost guilty,” she added.
Bernie previously suffered a still birth in 1998 with a daughter she named Kate before welcoming her daughter, Erin, in 1999.
Her daughter survived Bernie after she died in 2013 following a battle with breast cancer.
