Angry Dave Jones last night risked a double FA rap after branding football chiefs' muchhyped 'Respect' initiative "a load of baloney".

Fa bigwigs introduced the scheme this season to ensure better relations between referees, managers and players.

But Cardiff boss Jones, spitting mad after having two men sent off at QPR, says officials are breaking the deal by making awful decisions.

City succumbed to a late Gavin Mahon sucker-punch after ref Lee Probert sent off Darren Purse, for a 28th-minute misjudged tackle, and Miguel Comminges, for abusing a linesman - in French!

Jones is already expecting to be probed by the FA for his rant immediately after the game, when he claimed Probert "didn't understand the game".

But the Bluebirds boss plunged deeper into hot water by adding: "There's no respect.

There isn't any. It's a load of baloney.

"They're talking about it and we're trying to do it - but when you see what happened at QPR, it's not acceptable. If I don't say it to the media and I write to (referees' chief) Keith Hackett instead, nothing will be done. Maybe Keith Hackett and all the officials need to look at themselves and say 'what are we doing here?'

"The linesman's French must be good as Miguel was sent off - but he can't speak any English. Even if we won the game, I'd still hammer the officials.

"Why should I be punished for saying the referee had a poor performance? There's supposed to be respect in the game so they have to respect my comments that the referee was poor."

Jones' rants were the best entertainment on offer at rainy Loftus Road, where the sight of Rangers' co-owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone in the directors' box was the other main cause of excitement.

On the pitch, play-off hopefuls Rangers and City served up a miserable hotch-potch of missed passes and midfield scrapping.

Stephen McPhail did almost put Cardiff ahead after 21 minutes, only to be denied by a brilliant claw round the post by keeper Radek Cerny.

Probert livened things up seven minutes later by surprisingly flashing his red card when Purse caught Lee Cook with a late tackle, even though City's centre-back was not the last man.

After the break, Akos Buzsaky's swerving effort for Rangers was spilt by Tom Heaton - but Patrick Agyemang hit the post as the offside flag went up. Mahon leapt to nod in the winner from Peter Ramage's cross 11 minutes from time, before Comminges was booked for an 85th-minute foul and sent off for a second yellow card a minute later after confronting a linesman.

City had the better of the game but still went home losers, with boss Jones a victim of the Manager of the Month curse after six games unbeaten in October.

Qpr caretaker-boss Gareth Ainsworth, whose side face Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Carling Cup tomorrow, is hoping to edge out bookies' favourite David O'Leary for the full-time manager's job.

Winger Cook, asked if he wanted Ainsworth to be made permanent, said: "Yes - I love Gaz. I've played with him for three years and roomed with him for a year.

"He's a top, top man. It's a learning experience for him but he knows the players are behind him."

Veteran midfielder Ainsworth insists his managerial style is not ranting and raving - which ensures he is learning to cope with the task of directing Briatore's millions.

"I'm learning to cope with the emotions a bit more and as long as I've got the backing of everyone at the club, I'm a very happy man," he said.
